Step 2: Protect the eyes and fabric torso

Step 3: Clean ordinary vinyl marks gently

Begin with a soft washcloth dampened with lukewarm water. American Girl describes a baking-soda-and-water paste for gentle circular cleaning of vinyl skin. Use controlled, light contact and avoid scrubbing painted facial details aggressively. Work on one small section so residue can be removed before it spreads. Do not substitute a solvent, acne cream or abrasive cleaning sponge based on a restoration video. A method that changes a stain can also alter paint or material, and that risk is different from removing ordinary surface dirt.

Step 4: Remove residue and reassess the stain

Wipe away the paste with a clean damp washcloth, rinsing the cloth frequently, then towel-dry the cleaned vinyl. Keep the body and wig as dry as possible throughout. Examine the area once dry rather than repeatedly escalating pressure while the surface is wet. Step 5: Choose the hair tool by texture

Use a wire wig brush for straight or wavy hair and the appropriate pick for curly texture, following the doll's instructions. Tight curls may be better arranged gently with fingers. Support the doll without pulling its head or wig. Start with a small section near the ends and gradually work upward, always directing the brush toward the ends. Step 6: Use only a light mist for detangling
