How to Clean an Apple Studio Display
Apple Studio Display is sold with standard glass or optional nano-texture glass, and that choice changes the primary cleaning tool. Apple says standard glass can be cleaned with a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with water, while nano-texture glass should be cleaned only with the included Apple polishing cloth. For infrequent hard-to-remove smudges on either glass type, Apple permits a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol solution. The display must be disconnected from power and connected devices, liquid must never be sprayed directly, and window cleaner, ammonia, acetone, peroxide cleaner and abrasives are excluded. Identify the glass before touching the panel.

Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Identify standard or nano-texture glass
Check the original order, packaging or system documentation. Nano-texture glass has a matte low-glare appearance and came with Apple's polishing cloth, but appearance alone is not a perfect identifier. Do not start with an ordinary microfiber cloth on uncertain glass; confirm the configuration or follow nano-texture restrictions until certain.
Step 2: Shut down and disconnect the display
Shut down or disconnect the Mac, unplug the Studio Display power cord and remove Thunderbolt and accessory cables. Let the display cool and place it where it cannot tip. Keep jewelry, pens and cable ends away from the panel. Never clean a powered display or spray liquid around ports and speaker openings.
Step 3: Lift dry dust first
Use the correct clean cloth with almost no pressure. For nano-texture glass, use only the included Apple polishing cloth; for standard glass, use a soft clean microfiber cloth. Wipe in broad overlapping passes and refold when dust transfers. Do not use paper towels, tissue, compressed air against the panel or a cloth that has collected grit.
Step 4: Clean standard glass with water
Lightly dampen the microfiber cloth with clean water away from the display and wring it thoroughly. Wipe the standard-glass panel with gentle passes, keeping moisture from edges. Follow with a dry clean cloth. Do not pour or spray water directly onto the glass.
Step 5: Clean nano-texture glass with the Apple cloth
For routine dust and smudges, Apple says to use only the supplied polishing cloth on nano-texture glass. Keep it dry for normal use and move it lightly across the complete mark. An ordinary display cloth can interact differently with the etched surface, so do not substitute one because it feels soft.
Step 6: Treat a hard-to-remove smudge infrequently
Apple permits moistening the proper cloth with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol for infrequent stubborn substances on nano-texture or standard glass. Apply IPA to the cloth away from the display, never to the screen. Use minimal liquid, wipe gently and let it evaporate. Do not increase concentration or use sanitizer gel, acetone, ammonia, peroxide or window cleaner.
Step 7: Wipe the enclosure and stand
Use a different soft slightly damp lint-free cloth on the aluminum enclosure and stand, then dry. Keep moisture out of ports, microphones, speakers, camera and seams. Do not let an enclosure cloth touch the nano-texture panel after picking up metal dust or cleaner residue.
Step 8: Wash the Apple polishing cloth correctly
Apple directs owners to hand-wash the polishing cloth with dish soap and water, rinse thoroughly and air-dry for at least 24 hours. Do not use it while damp, wash it with laundry that can transfer softener or lint, or dry it on a dirty surface. A lost cloth can be replaced through Apple.
Step 9: Reconnect only when dry
Inspect the panel from several angles and confirm the bezel, enclosure, ports and cloth-contact areas are dry. Reconnect cables without touching their ends to the screen. Stop home cleaning if a mark appears beneath the glass, the nano-texture surface has a changed patch or liquid entered an opening.
