How to Clean a BlendJet 2 Portable Blender
For a BlendJet 2 confirmed unaffected by the recall above, BlendJet's official user guide gives the BlendJet 2 two cleaning levels. For basic care, fill the jar about two-thirds with warm—not hot—water, add one drop of dish soap, run one complete blend cycle and rinse. For a deep clean, the jar and two different silicone gaskets come off for hand washing while the blade area is brushed without putting hands in the blade path. The BlendJet 2 is water-resistant, but BlendJet says not to submerge the assembled unit and not to put its base, jar or lid in a dishwasher. Cleaning immediately also keeps food from drying on the blades or fermenting in a sealed jar. Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Clean immediately after the drink is removed
Pour out the finished drink instead of letting residue dry or ferment. Disconnect the USB-C cable and keep the blender away from charging power during cleaning. BlendJet says never to charge the unit while it is wet. If the blade is jammed, do not reach in to free it.
Step 2: Run the basic self-cleaning cycle
Fill the assembled jar about two-thirds full with warm, not hot, water. Add one drop of dish soap and secure the lid. Run one complete cycle until the BlendJet stops automatically. Do not overfill, run the unit empty or use water above BlendJet's 120°F or 49°C liquid limit.
Step 3: Empty and rinse without submerging
Pour the soapy water out and rinse with clean water. Rotate the unit so water carries residue out of the jar without leaving the whole blender underwater. BlendJet describes the product as water-resistant but explicitly says never to submerge it entirely or put any of the base, jar and lid in a dishwasher.
Step 4: Decide whether a deep clean is needed
Deep-clean when residue remains around blades or gaskets, odor persists, a thick mixture was blended or the unit has not been cleaned promptly. Activate Lock Mode before handling and keep the blender disconnected. Remember BlendJet's warning that magnetic objects can fool the safety detection with the jar removed.
Step 5: Remove the jar and distinguish both gaskets
Twist the jar counterclockwise while twisting the base in the opposite direction. Following BlendJet's guide, carefully lift the lid and base gaskets with a fork and note their positions. They are slightly different: the gasket with the groove belongs in the base. Keep magnets away from the exposed base and blades.
Step 6: Hand-wash jar, lid and gaskets
Wash these removable parts in warm soapy water, flexing the gaskets gently so residue releases from their channels. Rinse until no foam remains. Do not use a dishwasher, boiling water or a sharp blade to scrape plastic or silicone. Inspect each gasket for cuts, stretching or residue before reuse.
Step 7: Brush around blades without using fingers
BlendJet directs using a dish brush to dislodge debris around the blades when needed. Hold the base securely, keep fingers out of the blade path and brush from a controlled angle. Never put hands near the blades, even with the jar off, because the base contains a powered blade system and magnetic safety sensing.
Step 8: Air-dry every part fully
Shake off rinse water, pat exterior surfaces around the BlendJet logo and arrange the jar, lid and gaskets separately. BlendJet says to leave each part out long enough to fully air-dry. Keep the USB port and base away from charging until no water remains on or around them.
Step 9: Reassemble in the correct gasket order
Place the grooved gasket in the base with its grooved side facing down and press it firmly with a spoon tip if needed. Screw on the jar so it seats that gasket fully. Install the second gasket in the lid, then align jar and base. Add a small amount of water and check for leaks before normal blending.
