How to Clean an iRobot Braava jet m6
The Braava jet m6 carries cleaning liquid through a removable tank and recognizes different pad types, so pad care, robot wiping and dock maintenance should stay separate. iRobot says reusable cleaning pads can be washed up to 50 times; machine washing uses a warm cycle followed by air-drying. Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: End the job and remove the robot from its dock
Cancel the cleaning mission in the iRobot Home app or with the robot control, allow motion to stop and lift the m6 from the Home Base. Place it on a dry towel. Unplug the dock before cleaning its tray or contacts. Do not turn the robot over with a full tank or while it can resume a scheduled job.
Step 2: Eject the used cleaning pad
Hold the robot over a laundry area or trash bin and use the pad-eject control so you do not handle a saturated dirty surface unnecessarily. Identify a washable pad versus a single-use pad. Discard a single-use pad after its job. Do not pull sideways on the pad plate or leave a wet pad attached during storage.
Step 3: Wash a reusable pad correctly
iRobot says the reusable cleaning pad can be washed up to 50 times. Rinse it in a sink or machine-wash on a warm cycle, keeping it away from delicate laundry and fabric softener. Air-dry the pad completely; do not put it in a dryer. Replace it when fibers remain matted, backing is damaged or cleaning performance declines.
Step 4: Empty and rinse the removable tank
Remove the tank, open its cap and discard remaining solution according to the product directions. Rinse the tank with clean warm water and shake gently, keeping the cap and valve free of debris. Use only water and the Braava jet Hard Floor Cleaning Solution approved by iRobot for operation; do not descale with vinegar or household cleaner.
Step 5: Wipe the pad plate and spray area
With the tank and pad removed, wipe accessible residue from the pad plate and front spray-nozzle area using a clean damp cloth. Do not insert a pin into the nozzle, pour water through the robot or spray cleaner directly. If the m6 will not spray, follow iRobot's troubleshooting sequence rather than enlarging the opening manually.
Step 6: Remove hair from the wheels
Turn the empty robot over on a soft dry surface. Rotate each drive wheel and pull away visible hair or thread from its edges and axle area, following the care diagram. Wheels should move with similar resistance. Do not pry out a wheel module, add lubricant or use a sharp tool near rubber tread and wiring.
Step 7: Clean sensors and the robot exterior
Wipe cliff sensors, pad-detection areas and other windows identified in iRobot support with a clean dry microfiber cloth. Use a lightly damp cloth on approved exterior plastic, avoiding openings. Keep water and cleaner out of the camera, tank bay and electronics. Do not use abrasive pads, compressed air or direct spray on the robot.
Step 8: Clean the Home Base and drip tray
With the dock unplugged, lift and wipe the removable drip tray, removing dried cleaning solution from its grooves. Dry-wipe the robot and dock charging contacts and the dock's guidance window. Keep the plug, cord and electrical base dry. Reinstall the tray flat so the robot can dock without rocking or catching an edge.
Step 9: Dry, refill and verify operation
Let the empty tank exterior, pad, robot and dock tray dry completely. Fill the tank with an approved operating mixture, install a fresh dry or clean pad and return the robot to the powered dock. Confirm charging, then run a short open-area mission. Stop for leakage, repeated wheel errors, failed spraying or inability to dock.
