How to Clean a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Camera

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Power off and remove accessories

Stop recording, power off Pocket 3, disconnect charging and microphone accessories, and let the camera cool. Remove the Battery Handle, thread handle, filter, lens accessory, tripod, or expansion adapter using its intended release. Do not pull a USB-C accessory sideways or begin cleaning while the gimbal can initialize unexpectedly.

Step 2: Remove loose grit before wiping

Hold the camera over a clean surface and use a manual lens blower on the lens, screen, and gimbal area. Brush body seams outward with a soft dry brush. Sand can scratch the lens coating and rotating screen if trapped under a cloth, so never start by rubbing visible grit. Avoid air compressors and canned propellant that can force dust into pivots and microphones.

Step 3: Clean the camera lens

Use a clean dry lens cloth in light circular passes from the center outward. Change to a fresh area as oil transfers. If the exact DJI guide permits lens solution for a stubborn fingerprint, apply a very small amount to lens tissue—not directly to the camera. Do not use a shirt, paper towel, window cleaner, or abrasive wipe.

Step 4: Clean filters and lens accessories separately

Remove the Wide-Angle Lens, Black Mist Filter, or magnetic ND filter before cleaning. Blow both surfaces, then wipe with a separate lens cloth while holding the edges. Inspect the magnetic mating area for grit that could prevent flat seating. Do not stack or reinstall a filter while damp, and store each in its case rather than loose beside metal objects.

Step 5: Clean the gimbal without forcing it

With power off, use the blower and soft brush around accessible pan, tilt, and roll gaps. Support the camera and move an axis only through the limited amount DJI allows while unpowered. Do not pull the camera head, apply lubricant, insert a swab into a pivot, or use suction that jerks the assembly. A gritty or resistant axis needs service rather than stronger cleaning.

Step 6: Wipe the rotating touchscreen

Use a dry microfiber cloth on the screen, supporting it so pressure does not load the hinge. For a stubborn mark, use only a minimally damp cloth if the manual permits and dry immediately. Keep liquid away from the screen edge and rotation mechanism. Do not spray screen cleaner, rotate against resistance, or close the screen around trapped grit.

Step 7: Clean microphone openings and controls dry

Brush the microphone openings, joystick, record button, and speaker areas with gentle outward strokes. Do not insert a pin or cotton-swab shaft into a microphone or use compressed air, which can damage internal membranes. Wipe the body with a soft dry cloth and use no aerosol disinfectant or solvent around its seams.

Step 8: Clean USB-C connections and handles

Inspect the bottom port, handle connectors, and accessory plugs while disconnected. Use a dry soft brush on accessible edges without scraping metal contacts. Wipe handle shells separately and keep their ports dry. Do not attach a Battery Handle if either connector contains moisture, pocket lint, or bent contacts.

Step 9: Clean the protective cover

Remove grit from the cover with a dry brush and wipe its non-electronic surfaces according to DJI's accessory instructions. Make sure every contact area is clean and dry so it cannot rub the lens, screen, or gimbal during storage. DJI recommends the protective cover in larger bags; do not force the camera into it with an accessory attached incorrectly.

Step 10: Reassemble and test stabilization

When all parts are dry, attach only clean filters and handles, power on while holding Pocket 3 upright and unobstructed, and let the gimbal complete initialization. Check the image for smears, test the rotating screen, recording controls, microphones, and gimbal tracking, then install the clean protective cover for storage.
