Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Return the H14 to a level powered base
Finish the floor task, return the machine upright to its base, and make sure it is seated and charging. Check that the clean-water tank has enough fluid and the used-water tank has capacity. Keep the base level and away from standing water. Do not handle the roller or remove a tank while a self-clean or drying cycle is running.
Step 2: Start self-cleaning and drying correctly
Briefly press the self-clean button to start the combined self-clean and drying routine described by Dreame. H14's roller rotates in both directions during the wash to release debris. On supported versions, pressing and holding the button for about three seconds while docked starts drying only. Let the selected program complete; do not confuse a short press with the drying-only command.
Step 3: Empty the used-water tank immediately
Dreame instructs owners to empty the dirty-water tank promptly after self-cleaning. Lift it upright, separate the lid and debris basket or filter components, discard solids into the trash, and pour wastewater into a suitable drain. Waiting allows odor and film to develop and can leave the float or sensors coated.
Step 4: Rinse tank parts and protect the float
Rinse the tank, lid, solid-separation components, and accessible filter frame with clean water. Use the supplied brush on the inner wall, corners, and screen. Move gently around the float and seals; forcing them can cause false full-tank alerts or leaking. Leave the assembly open until droplets are gone.
Step 5: Clean the filter and allow full drying
Remove loose debris first, then rinse the filter only according to the exact H14 manual. Do not scrub delicate media with a hard brush or reinstall it wet. Shake off water and air-dry in a ventilated place. A damp or clogged filter reduces recovery and can carry moisture and odor toward the airflow path.
Step 6: Remove and inspect the roller
After the machine is off and the cleaning cycle has ended, release the roller cover and pull out the brush roller by its handle. Remove wrapped fibers with the supplied tool or blunt scissors, protecting the pile and ends. Check the scraper and roller chamber for grit that the automatic wash did not release.
Step 7: Rinse and dry the roller and cover
Rinse the detached roller and removable cover with clean water. Wipe rather than rinse the powered floorhead. Use the base's supported drying program or air-dry the roller with good airflow, and confirm its inner core and ends are dry before closed storage. Dreame recommends roller replacement roughly every three to six months depending on use and wear; alternating two rollers helps each dry.
Step 8: Clear the suction channel and sensors
With tanks and roller removed and power off, use the supplied brush to remove visible hair and residue from the suction inlet and brush chamber. Wipe accessible full-tank sensor or contact surfaces gently. Do not pour water down the channel, use a sharp rod, or spray the powered head. Finish with a dry cloth.
Step 9: Maintain the clean-water tank and solution path
Discard stale solution before extended storage, rinse the clean-water tank and cap, and inspect its valve. Refill to the marks with clean water and only a Dreame-approved solution at the instructed dose. Do not add dish soap, bleach, vinegar, essential oil, wax, or an unapproved formula; foam can disrupt recovery and self-cleaning.
Step 10: Reassemble and test on a small area
Install the dry filter and tank components, dry roller and locked cover, and both correctly filled or emptied tanks. Wipe the exterior and base with a damp cloth while disconnected, then dry charging areas. Run a short supervised pickup test on an approved sealed floor.
