How to Clean a Dreame L40 Ultra Robot Vacuum

Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Power down the robot and unplug the base
End the task in Dreamehome, remove the robot from the base station, switch it off, and unplug the base. Place the robot on a soft dry mat before turning it over. Remove the mop assemblies first. Never pour water onto the robot or into the base, and keep cloths from dripping near contacts, vents, LiDAR, cameras, and sensors.
Step 2: Empty and rinse the dust box
Remove the dust box, open it over a trash container, and clear the inlet and internal screen. Dreame permits the detached dust box to be rinsed with water, but says not to use detergent. Shake out water and leave the box open until every seam is dry. A damp box can wet the filter and carry dust into a paste.
Step 3: Tap, rinse, and fully dry the filter
Remove the filter and tap it gently against the trash container. If deeper cleaning is needed, rinse it with clean water without a stiff brush or detergent. Let it dry in a ventilated location for a minimum of 24 hours, and verify the pleats and frame feel completely dry before refitting. Dreame's general robot-care guidance recommends cleaning about every two weeks and replacement around three months, adjusted for use.
Step 4: Clean the installed main brush
Release the brush guard, lift out the main brush, and identify whether the robot has the standard rubber brush or an optional compatible TriCut brush. Remove hair from the surface, ends, end caps, and receiving slots with the cleaning tool. Do not yank a tight bundle across a blade or rubber fin. Wipe the dry compartment and lock the correct guard back in place.
Step 5: Clear the side brush and wheels
Remove hair from beneath the extending side brush without forcing its arm. Detach the brush only by the procedure in the exact manual. Rotate the front caster and drive wheels, pull thread from their axles, and wipe the tire surfaces. Do not lubricate the wheels; oily tires can slip, collect grit, and interfere with docking.
Step 6: Wash and inspect the mop pads
Remove both mop-pad assemblies, separate the fabric pads as designed, and rinse them with water only. Press out excess water and air-dry away from strong heat or direct sun. Wipe the holders dry and inspect their attachment surfaces. Dreame recommends pad replacement roughly every three to six months, or earlier when the fibers flatten, backing loosens, or odor remains.
Step 7: Empty and rinse the used-water tank
Lift the tank upright, empty it promptly, and rinse its interior with clean water. Use the supplied tool or a soft brush on film along the inner wall without forcing the float ball or seals. Rinse the clean-water tank when residue appears. Refill to the marked level and use only the solution and quantity allowed by the exact L40 Ultra manual.
Step 8: Clean the L40 Ultra washboard area
Start the app's base-cleaning routine if the manual directs it, then remove or raise only the exact pieces designed for access. Brush grit toward the collection area and wipe the washboard with a damp cloth. Some related L40 models have a removable washboard filter, but do not force one from an L40 Ultra unless your manual shows it. Finish the cycle so wastewater is pumped away.
Step 9: Replace the dock bag and clear dry airways
Open the dock's dust compartment, pull the bag handle to seal the opening, and discard a full bag. Wipe the compartment and its filter area with a dry cloth, inspect the robot and dock dust inlets, then seat a new bag completely.
