Step 1: Switch off and disconnect charging before cleaning

Turn the window vac off and remove the charging plug from its socket. Set the powered body somewhere stable and away from the sink. The WV 6 Plus D500 manual explicitly says not to clean the device under running water. That restriction remains in place even though some detached parts are rinsable. Do not attempt to clear a problem by drawing water through the motor or opening the battery housing.

Step 2: Empty the waste tank before it exceeds MAX

Remove the waste-water tank and empty it. During use, stop and empty when water reaches the MAX mark rather than continuing until suction changes. Rinse the removed tank with clean water, then remove its cap for the manual's hand-cleaning step. Inspect accessible edges where residue may remain and make sure the cap is clean before refitting. Do not confuse the removable dirty-water tank with permission to rinse the whole handle. Clean water belongs in the detached tank, not the powered body.

Step 3: Release the nozzle and slide out the blade

Press the release beneath the suction nozzle and pull the nozzle from the body. On the documented design, use the upper release to slide off the clamping rail, then withdraw the squeegee blade sideways. Lay the parts out in order and note their orientation. Do not pull the rubber straight through a retaining edge or force a different WV model to match this sequence. If your rail or release differs, consult that unit's diagram before applying more force.

Step 4: Rinse the detached blade, nozzle and rail

Clean those three detached parts under running water as the manual directs. Check the wiping edge for grit and inspect the nozzle route for accessible residue. Handle the blade gently so cleaning does not introduce a nick or stretch. A damaged edge will not be repaired by another rinse. Do not trim a small notch out of the rubber as a streak-removal trick; use a correct replacement when the blade is worn. Keep the washed parts away from the powered body until ready for assembly.

Step 5: Wash the microfiber cover separately

Remove the cover from the wiping attachment. The reference manual permits rinsing under running water or machine washing up to 60°C/140°F, while excluding fabric softener, bleach, tumble drying and ironing. Match any replacement cover to its own care label. Keep it separate from dirty abrasive work cloths and check that embedded grit has been removed. A dirty cover can move residue around the glass before the vacuum reaches it, making a clean squeegee appear ineffective.

Step 6: Dry and reassemble without twisting the blade

Allow the blade and parts to dry, then slide the blade back into the nozzle. Fit the clamping rail into its side guides and push it until it audibly latches, as shown in the manual. Check the rubber sits evenly instead of being pinched or pulled out of shape. Refit the tank and nozzle securely. Leave the charging connection dry and charge only when the device is assembled and ready. Store the cleaned unit upright in a clean, dry place protected from dust.

Step 7: Check technique before repeating the entire clean

On the next window, use enough of the specified Kärcher cleaner to keep the surface properly wetted. Glide the blade rather than pressing hard, use the manual's operating angle and avoid direct sun or excessively hot conditions. These are part of the manual's streak troubleshooting alongside blade cleanliness and wear. If streaks recur at the same point, inspect the wiping edge again. If the unit has a fault indication or liquid entered the body, follow the matching troubleshooting guidance instead of assuming another wash will solve it.
