The Levoit Classic 300S is a top-fill ultrasonic humidifier, so mineral scale can collect in its tank, base chamber, transducer area, float, and noise silencer. Levoit's care guidance calls for weekly emptying and wiping plus periodic white-vinegar descaling, with every rinsed component dried before reassembly. This is not the same process as cleaning an evaporative wick humidifier: the electrical base must not be immersed, and the small water-contact pieces must be returned to their correct positions.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Turn off, unplug, and empty the unit

Keep rinse water out of the base's air outlet and electrical underside.

Step 4: Descale the tank and base with vinegar

For mineral buildup, follow the Classic 300S manual's fill lines and Levoit's guidance to use distilled white vinegar for about fifteen to twenty minutes. Allow vinegar to contact the scaled water path without flooding protected openings. Vinegar loosens mineral crust; do not substitute an abrasive powder or metal scraper.

Step 5: Soak and brush removable small parts

Levoit's general instructions identify the float, filter or sponge, and noise silencer as vinegar-soak items where the model allows. Keep each part together, brush loosened deposits gently, and inspect the aroma pad separately. Do not pour essential oil into the water tank; use only the aroma compartment and replace a saturated or damaged pad.

Step 6: Clean the transducer area gently

Use the included soft brush to lift softened scale around the ultrasonic transducer without pressing, scratching, or prying. A damaged transducer can reduce mist or cause a leak. Never use steel wool, a sharp tool, undiluted bleach, or a stream of water on the electrical base.

Step 7: Rinse thoroughly and dry completely

Discard the vinegar, rinse every approved part until no odor or residue remains, and wipe the base chamber with a clean damp cloth followed by a dry one. Air-dry the tank, float, silencer, sponge, and other parts completely. Moisture on the outside bottom or in electrical seams must be gone before power is restored.

Step 8: Reassemble, refill, and test

Return the float and noise silencer in the exact orientation shown by the manual, seat the water-filter sponge and aroma box, and replace the tank. Fill with room-temperature distilled water where practical, direct mist away from walls and electronics, and test for leaks before increasing output. Stop and recheck assembly if the no-water warning, leak, or unusual noise appears.
