How to Clean Lomi 3: Bucket, Cleaning Mode, and Filter

Step 1: Cool, unplug, and empty the bucket

Let the completed cycle finish and allow the bucket and contents to cool before lifting them out. Disconnect power for hands-on cleaning, then use the bucket handle to lift it straight out. Empty loose material into the container you normally use for the processed scraps. Keep the bucket over that container while tipping so crumbs do not fall into the appliance's bucket cavity. Do not turn Lomi upside down to empty it. Check for stuck food, a foreign object, or damaged coating before deciding whether a quick hand wash or the dedicated cleaning cycle is appropriate.

Step 2: Hand-wash ordinary food residue

Take the removed bucket to the sink and wash it with water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge. Clean the accessible surfaces around the grinding assembly without forcing it to rotate or removing its hardware. Rinse away loosened food and soap. If a deposit resists gentle wiping, use the Cleaning Mode below instead of a metal scraper. The manual allows soap-and-water washing but warns against household or commercial chemical cleaners on the nonstick coating. That is not permission to use oven cleaner, drain cleaner, solvent, or abrasive powder. Keep these products out of the bucket.

Step 3: Choose the dishwasher or Cleaning Mode when needed

The removed bucket is dishwasher-safe: clear out debris first, use the hot cycle permitted by Lomi, and let the bucket cool before handling it. For the powered alternative, seat the bucket back in the appliance and measure 2 liters of clean water into the bucket only. Keep the surrounding cavity dry. Refit any removed components, close the lid, and reconnect power only when ready to run. Select Cleaning Mode on the front panel; this cycle takes about 1.5 hours. Do not add dish soap, bleach, descaler, or other cleaning additives to the cycle. Afterwards, cool, unplug, lift out the bucket, empty the dirty water, and rinse the bucket.

Step 4: Wipe the lid and clean the removable vent cover

With Lomi unplugged, wipe the outer housing and hinged lid using a damp cloth; add a little dish soap to the cloth for greasy marks, then wipe away the residue and dry. Do not detach the hinged lid or wash the entire appliance under a tap. The removable vent cover above the bucket slides out for separate washing. The Lomi 3 manual permits hand washing or dishwashing that cover. Note how it sits before removal so it can go back in the same orientation. Wipe accessible crumbs from the cavity without pouring or spraying water into it.

Step 5: Clean the cartridge, but replace spent carbon

Pull the rear filter cartridge toward you and lift it out. Open its lid and remove the used carbon before washing the empty cartridge. The manual permits washing this removable cartridge by hand or in the dishwasher, while warning that carbon residue can stain. Dry the cartridge before refilling it with the correct fresh carbon and securing its lid. Washing the plastic housing does not renew the carbon's odor-control capacity. Lomi's replacement reminder appears after approximately 45 cycles; odor may call for earlier replacement. After actually replacing the carbon, hold Start for five seconds to clear that reminder.

Step 6: Dry, reassemble, and inspect the seating

Dry the bucket exterior and base, cartridge, and vent cover before returning them to their positions. Check that no towel fibers, food chunks, or carbon pellets remain around the bucket seat. Refit the vent cover and cartridge fully; the lid should close normally without pressure. If a part will not sit properly, remove it and check alignment instead of using the lid to force it down. Do not start an ordinary food cycle with cleaning water left in the bucket. Keep a separate note of when the carbon was changed so a cleared light is not mistaken for completed maintenance.

Step 7: Use the symptom to choose the next action

A clean bucket that still smells during operation suggests checking the carbon and vent cover before repeating stronger washing. The current Lomi troubleshooting FAQ recommends thorough bucket cleaning every three cycles to reduce excess noise. A grinder-jam alert is different from an occasional food-cracking sound: stop, cool, unplug, and inspect the accessible bucket for obstruction. Do not reach into a powered machine or keep restarting an unresolved jam. If the coating is peeling, the bucket is damaged, or there is an electrical error, contact Lomi with the model and symptoms instead of treating the fault as dirt.
