Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Disconnect power and identify the meshes

Step 2: Remove and clean the silicone ear tips
Pull each ear tip from its rigid base rather than stretching the thin edge. Wipe the tips and inspect their bores for wax. Clean silicone separately using the method Google permits, then rinse away any residue and dry fully. Keep left and right sizes organized. Step 3: Dry-clean loose surface debris first

Step 4: Prepare the micellar-water brush
Pour a small amount of plain micellar water into a clean cup. Dip only the toothbrush bristle tips, then tap away excess so liquid cannot run down the earbud. Google's procedure uses a controlled amount on the brush, not soaking or pouring. Do not substitute detergent, benzene, powder, abrasive paste, oil-based makeup remover, or an unidentified solvent.
Step 5: Brush only the approved mesh areas
Hold the identified mesh facing upward when following Google's wet-brush sequence and move the soft bristles in gentle circles for about 15 seconds per approved area. Keep the handle controlled so it does not scrape the shell. Do not spread micellar water across proximity sensors, charging contacts, seams, or the charging case, and do not clean unmarked openings by assumption.
Step 6: Blot and repeat only as needed
Turn the earbud so the cleaned mesh faces downward and blot it on a clean paper towel, allowing liquid and loosened contamination to transfer out. Repeat the approved brush-and-blot sequence only to the limit Google describes. More pressure is not better. Stop if a mesh shifts, the shell opens, or liquid appears at another seam.
Step 7: Clean sensors and charging contacts dry
Use a dry lint-free cloth or dry cotton swab around the wear sensor and metal contacts. Rotate the cloth as oil transfers. Clean matching case contacts only after disconnecting the case. Do not use micellar water inside the charging wells, bend a pin, or insert a tool into the USB-C port. Loose exterior lint can be brushed away dry.
Step 8: Dry for at least two hours
Leave the earbuds out of the case with cleaned meshes exposed to circulating room air for at least two hours, which Google specifies after mesh cleaning. Do not use heat, direct sun, rice, a vacuum, or compressed air. Ear tips must also be dry before reattachment. Extend drying time if any moisture remains around a mesh or seam.
Step 9: Reassemble and test both sides
Push each dry ear tip evenly onto its nozzle until secure, then place the buds into the unplugged case and verify contact. Test left and right audio at moderate volume, calls, noise control, and charging. If output remains uneven, repeat only the official treatment after the buds are dry; do not scrape or saturate the mesh.
