Step 1: Confirm the 705 configuration and power state

Open the app, identify Max 705 Combo and whether its dock is AutoWash or AutoEmpty, and review care alerts. End the job, remove the robot from the dock, power it down according to the guide, and unplug the dock before wet cleaning. Never copy tank or wash-tray steps onto an AutoEmpty-only dock or service moving parts while connected.

Step 2: Empty and clean the bin and filter separately

Remove the bin, take the filter out first, and tap or brush the filter dry as iRobot directs. Do not wash the filter. Empty debris, then rinse the bin only if the 705 procedure marks it washable. Keep bin contacts and the filter dry, and let the bin dry completely before returning the filter. Replace torn, clogged, or misshapen media on schedule.

Step 3: Clean the debris extractor and edge brush

Turn the disabled robot over on a protected surface, remove the extractor according to the release diagram, and clear hair from its ends, grooves, and bearings. Clean the edge brush without bending its arms. Do not pull hair through seals, lubricate parts, or run the robot with a brush missing. Replace worn extractors and brushes when the app or frequency guide calls for it.

Step 4: Wash the roller mop components

Remove the roller mop and its tray or guard only in the documented order. Rinse washable pieces, work lint from the roller without tearing fibers, and inspect for odor, wear, or embedded objects. iRobot recommends washing the roller periodically during and after cleaning routines. Drain, dry, and reinstall it correctly; never return a dripping or distorted roller to the robot.

Step 5: Wipe wheels, charging contacts, and sensors

Remove hair and grit from the caster and drive-wheel edges without taking apart sealed wheel modules. Use a dry cloth on cliff sensors, camera or navigation windows, charging contacts, and exterior surfaces. Do not spray the robot, use abrasive pads, wet optical windows, or pick at sensor seams. A stuck wheel, damaged contact, or persistent sensor alert requires the exact diagnostic.

Step 6: Empty and rinse dock tanks

Carry the dirty-water tank upright, empty it promptly, rinse it, and clean its lid and seal as the dock guide specifies. Clean the fresh-water tank on iRobot's schedule and refill with water plus only the approved solution and amount. Do not mix household floor cleaner, bleach, vinegar, disinfectant, or essential oil; unapproved chemistry can foam, clog, damage floors, or harm the machine.

Step 7: Clean the AutoWash tray, sensors, and target

Remove and rinse only detachable dock wash components shown by iRobot, clear the evacuation path dry, and wipe the docking contacts. The official schedule calls for cleaning sensors, the IR window, and visual docking target about every two weeks, with clean-tank care about monthly. Keep electrical bays, bag compartment, cord, and internal vacuum pathway dry.

Step 8: Dry, reassemble, and verify in the app

Dry every bin, tank, tray, roller, cap, and seal fully, then reinstall filters and parts in their correct positions. Reconnect the dock, place the robot correctly, and review app alerts. Run a small test on a compatible floor and check for leaks, streaks, unusual noise, failed evacuation, or docking trouble. Stop and troubleshoot any recurring error before scheduling unattended cleaning.
