How to Clean a Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch Robot and Base

The Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch system can empty dry debris, refill water, and wash and dry its mop pad, depending on the RV2800-series configuration. Those automated cycles do not remove every hair from the brushroll, clean the robot filter, wipe navigation sensors, or prevent residue in tanks and the base wash area. A safe routine separates dry dust maintenance from wet mop maintenance and keeps both robot and base electronics away from water.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Stop cleaning and disconnect power

End the mission in the SharkClean app or on the robot and allow all moving parts to stop. Turn the robot off before removing the dustbin or brushroll. Unplug the NeverTouch base before cleaning its tray, contacts, or exterior. Keep liquid away from the robot body, navigation modules, charging contacts, base cord, dust motor, and all powered compartments.

Step 2: Empty and inspect the robot dustbin

Release the robot dustbin and empty remaining debris over trash even if the base has performed automatic emptying. Remove clumps from the inlet and flap without forcing them toward the filter. A base that is not pulling debris can be affected by a blocked robot port, misseated bin, or loaded base container or bag, depending on the exact NeverTouch package.

Step 3: Clean the robot filter correctly

Remove the filter by its frame and tap loose dust into trash. Use only the dry-clean or rinse method stated in the RV2800 owner guide for that exact filter; Shark robot filters are not interchangeable just because their shapes look similar. If rinsing is allowed, use water only and allow complete air-drying before installation. Never run the robot without a filter.

Step 4: Remove hair from the brushroll and side brush

Place the powered-down robot upside down on a soft dry surface, release the brushroll door, and lift out the roller. Cut and pull away hair from the roller, ends, and intake without damaging bristles or seals. Clean fibers from the side brush and wheel axles. Reinstall the roller in its original orientation and press the cover until every latch is flat.

Step 5: Clean the mop pad between automatic cycles

The base washes the pad after wet missions, but Shark also recommends periodic machine washing of the reusable mop pad. Remove it without turning dirty water onto the robot, follow its care label and owner guide, and avoid bleach and fabric softener. Dry the pad fully before storing it. Replace a pad that is torn, stiff, or no longer attaching securely.

Step 6: Wipe the sensors and contacts

Use a clean dry microfiber cloth on the cliff sensors, navigation windows, docking sensors, and charging contacts identified in the guide. Clean matching base contacts after unplugging it. Do not spray glass cleaner, detergent, or water onto a sensor, and do not use an abrasive eraser unless Shark explicitly instructs it for that surface.

Step 7: Empty, rinse, and refill the water system

Remove the dirty-water tank, discard the contents promptly, and rinse the tank and lid. Inspect seals and floats for stuck debris. Fill the clean-water tank only to its mark with the water and Shark-approved cleaning solution specified for the system. Do not add bleach, vinegar, essential oils, hot water, or a concentrated household floor cleaner.

Step 8: Clean the NeverTouch base

Follow the base's tray or wash-area access procedure and remove hair, grit, and sludge from user-removable components. Service its dry-debris container, bag, and filters according to the exact configuration; do not wash a disposable bag or a nonwashable base filter. Wipe the powered base housing dry, clear only documented ports, and reseat the tray and tanks before reconnecting power.

Step 9: Test vacuuming, mopping, and docking

After all washable parts are dry, reinstall the robot filter, dustbin, brushroll, and clean mop pad. Seat the tanks and dry-debris component, plug in the base, and run a short mapped-area test. Watch for leakage, a brush error, incomplete emptying, or repeated docking attempts. Stop and recheck latches, contacts, tank caps, and sensor cleanliness if any error returns.
