How to Wash a Tula Explore Baby Carrier
Baby Tula's Explore care label allows a cold machine wash and line drying, but detergent choice is unusually specific. Tula advises against formulas containing bleach, perfumes, dyes, chlorine or optical brighteners, and also excludes ironing and dry cleaning. Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Confirm the carrier family and label
Locate the Explore product label and textile care symbols. Do not transfer the instructions blindly to a Tula Lite, Free-to-Grow, woven or limited textile. Remove detachable accessories such as hood, drool pads or lumbar support only when their own labels call for separate washing.
Step 2: Spot-clean when possible
Brush off dry crumbs and blot small marks with a soft cloth dampened in cool water and compatible mild detergent. Work gently around printed fabric and lift residue with a plain damp cloth. Spot cleaning is appropriate between full washes and reduces needless wear to shaped padding and webbing.
Step 3: Inspect and secure the hardware
Check buckles, adjustment rails, elastics and load-bearing stitching before washing. Fasten the buckles, roll or loosely contain long strap tails with their elastics and close hook-and-loop areas. Do not bind the padded waistband into a tight roll or put a cracked buckle through a wash hoping it will recover.

Read the ingredient and product description rather than relying only on the word gentle. Use a small dose so detergent can rinse from padded seams and fabric around the child's face.
Step 5: Machine-wash cold
Place the carrier in a roomy wash bag or pillowcase and run a cold gentle cycle. Wash it alone or with soft, color-compatible items without zippers. Do not use chlorine or oxygen bleach, stain sprays with brighteners, fabric softener or a hot sanitary cycle. An extra cold rinse is safer than more chemistry.
Step 6: Remove water without twisting
Lift the carrier with both hands and press it between towels. Do not wring the waistband, twist shoulder straps or pull on one wet webbing tail. Straighten the body panel and open folds around buckles and adjustment areas so trapped rinse water can drain.
Step 7: Line-dry completely
Tula says to line-dry the Explore carrier. Support the waistband and shoulder padding across a broad line or rack in shade, with straps separated. Do not tumble-dry, iron or place it against a heater. Turn the carrier and check thick seams, which often remain damp after the panel feels dry.
Step 8: Set up and inspect before carrying
When dry through, release and close every buckle, slide each adjuster and inspect for abrasion or loose stitching. Restore the seat-width and neck-support positions appropriate to the child using Tula's instructions. Retire the carrier from use and contact Tula if webbing slips, hardware is cracked or load-bearing seams are compromised.
