How to Clean Apple Vision Pro and Its Light Seal
Apple Vision Pro combines coated optical surfaces, cameras, microphones, speakers, soft face-contact parts, aluminum, woven bands, and a cabled battery. Those parts cannot share one cleaner. Apple says not to use isopropyl alcohol, Windex, Clorox, or similar disinfectants on the headset's hard nonporous surfaces; the cover glass and displays need a clean microfiber polishing cloth, while removable cushions and bands use a measured dish-soap wash. This guide separates each component so sweat and makeup can be removed without scratching optics or carrying liquid into meshes and connectors.

Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Shut down and detach the washable components
Turn Vision Pro off, disconnect the power cable, and place the headset inside its cover on a stable level surface. Remove the Light Seal Cushion, Light Seal, head band, and cover according to Apple's attachment instructions. Keep the enclosure and optical surfaces well away from the container used for washing.
Step 2: Dry-clean the cover glass
Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth such as the supplied Polishing Cloth. Lift loose particles gently before wiping smudges so grit is not dragged across the glass. Apple also permits applying ZEISS cleaning spray to the polishing cloth and then wiping the cover glass dry. Never spray the headset, and do not use paper products.
Step 3: Clean the internal displays
Keep Vision Pro supported inside its cover and wipe each optical display with a clean dry microfiber cloth. Use light pressure and a clean section for each lens. Apple also allows ZEISS cleaning spray applied to the polishing cloth—not directly to the display—followed by a dry wipe. Do not use isopropyl alcohol, ammonia, window cleaner, or disinfecting wipes.
Step 4: Wash the Light Seal Cushion, bands, or cover
In a clean container, mix five teaspoons (25 mL) of fragrance-free dish soap into two cups (500 mL) of warm water. Place one detached washable cushion, head band, or Vision Pro Cover in the solution. Gently press and rub its surface with your fingers for two minutes. Rinse under running water while gently compressing foam for about 30 seconds, repeating until soap is gone.
Step 5: Wipe-clean the Light Seal separately
Remove both the Light Seal and its cushion from the enclosure. Prepare the same measured soap solution, soak a lint-free cloth, and wring out excess water. Rub the Light Seal gently for two minutes. Use a second lint-free cloth dampened only with fresh water to remove residue. Do not place the Light Seal itself into the wash container.
Step 6: Clean the curtain and Audio Straps
Remove dry debris from the curtain around the displays with a dry lint-free cloth, a soft brush, or a light press-and-lift with non-tacky tape. For a stain, use a damp cloth without wetting the displays. Wipe an Audio Strap with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with fresh water if necessary, avoiding microphones, speaker meshes, connectors, and the aluminum lid. A little hypoallergenic soap can be used where Apple allows, followed by a clean wipe.
Step 7: Clear speaker and microphone meshes dry
Brush meshes gently with a clean, dry, soft-bristle brush. A dry cotton swab can be used on Audio Strap speaker meshes as Apple specifies. Keep all liquid and cleaning spray away from the holes. Do not push bristles or swabs into an opening or use compressed air.
Step 8: Clean the battery and power cable
With everything unplugged, wipe the battery exterior with a water-dampened lint-free cloth, keeping moisture away from the attached cable, and dry it. Wipe the cable length with a damp cloth; use soapy water if plain water fails, without wetting either connector. Apple allows a 70% IPA wipe or Clorox wipe on a discolored cable section. Dry the cable and leave it overnight before use.
Step 9: Air-dry and inspect before reassembly
Let the washed cushion, band, cover, and Light Seal dry at room temperature until their foam, edges, seams, and attachment points are fully dry. Do not use the headset with a damp component. Inspect the cover glass and displays for grit or streaks, verify meshes and connectors are dry, then reattach each piece without forcing the magnets or clips.
Step 10: Keep the polishing cloth clean
Machine-wash and machine-dry the Apple Polishing Cloth or hand-wash and air-dry it as needed. Store the clean cloth in a clean bag. Do not use a cloth that was dropped outdoors or carried loose in a gritty pocket until it has been thoroughly washed, because embedded particles can scratch the optics.
