How to Clean a Casper Mattress Without Over-Wetting It
A Casper mattress should be cleaned as a layered bed, not as carpet. Casper's current mattress-cleaning guidance uses surface vacuuming, mild-soap spot treatment and baking soda followed by vacuuming for odor. Water, steam or an extractor can carry moisture through the cover into foam, where drying is slow and odor can worsen. A separate Casper mattress protector may have its own machine-wash instructions, but those permissions do not automatically apply to the mattress cover or foam. This routine is for routine dust, a fresh spill, a modest surface stain and ordinary odor. Widespread saturation, sewage, smoke, mold, pests or a spill that reaches an adjustable base needs professional or manufacturer guidance rather than repeated home treatment.

Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Separate bedding, protector and mattress
Remove sheets and identify any separate protector or topper. Launder only removable bedding according to its own sewn label. Do not assume that a zipper on the mattress means the structural cover is home washable; follow the exact Casper model instructions.
Step 2: Protect the room and powered base
Unplug an adjustable base with dry hands before treating a nearby spill. Move the mattress only with adequate help and do not bend it beyond Casper's handling guidance. Improve ventilation and keep children and pets away from the work area.
Step 3: Vacuum the dry surface
Casper recommends vacuuming the mattress surface. Use a clean upholstery tool with low suction and slow overlapping passes across the top and edges. Keep a rotating brush, dirty floor nozzle and high suction away from the knit cover and seams.
Step 4: Blot a fresh spill
Press clean white towels onto the area and lift repeatedly, changing to dry sections as liquid transfers. Work from the edge toward the center. Do not scrub or place body weight over the spill, because pressure pushes liquid deeper into the mattress.
Step 5: Test a mild-soap solution
Mix a very small amount of mild soap into cool or lukewarm water. Put it on a white cloth and test an inconspicuous edge. Avoid bleach, solvent, concentrated peroxide, essential oil and mixed homemade chemicals, which can discolor fabric or leave residue.
Step 6: Spot-clean with minimal moisture
Wring the cloth thoroughly, then dab only the stained fibers. Casper recommends spot cleaning rather than soaking. Alternate treatment with dry towel blotting and stop if moisture spreads toward a seam or the cover becomes saturated.
Step 7: Lift soap residue
Use a second cloth barely dampened with clean water to lift remaining soap, followed immediately by a dry towel. This is a surface rinse, not a flush. Never pour water onto the mattress or use a carpet extractor or steam cleaner.
Step 8: Treat ordinary odor on a dry surface
When the mattress is dry, Casper suggests sprinkling baking soda over the surface, allowing it time to absorb odor and vacuuming it away. Keep the layer light and dry, and prevent powder from entering an adjustable-base mechanism. Baking soda does not sanitize contamination or cure internal mold.
Step 9: Air-dry completely
Leave bedding off and direct a fan across the treated area at room temperature. Do not use a hair dryer, iron, heating pad or intense sun. The area must have no cool damp feel, transfer to a dry towel or retained odor before it is covered.
Step 10: Protect and maintain
Install a clean, fully dry, compatible mattress protector and remake the bed. Rotate the mattress only if Casper's instructions for that model recommend it; do not flip a one-sided design. Vacuum periodically and respond to future spills before they penetrate.
