How to Clean a Dyson 360 Vis Nav Robot Vacuum
The Dyson 360 Vis Nav differs from many premium robot vacuums because it has no self-empty or mop-washing dock. Owners must empty its full-sized bin, wash its lifetime HEPA filter, and clear the full-width triple-action brush bar themselves. The robot also navigates with a top-mounted 360-degree camera, 26 sensors, and an extending side duct, so harsh spray or a wet cloth in the wrong place can create a bigger problem than dust. Dyson identifies the filter and removable brush bar as washable, but the robot, cyclone, side duct, camera, sensors, battery, and charging dock are not. This guide uses dry cleaning for electronics, cold water without detergent for washable parts, and a full 24-hour minimum dry before reassembly.

Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Switch off and move away from the dock
End the job, remove the robot from its charger, switch it off, and place it on a clean dry surface. Allow it to cool after sustained high-power use. Never work on the brush bar while the robot can start, and keep all liquids away from its power button, camera, sensor windows, contacts, side duct, and battery area.
Step 2: Empty the bin before it is overfilled
Release the bin, hold it over a trash container, and operate the one-touch eject mechanism so dust falls away from your face. Remove compacted lint from the inlet without pushing it into the cyclone. Empty at the MAX mark rather than compressing debris; overfilling reduces separation and transfers dust toward the filter.
Step 3: Clean the bin while keeping the cyclone dry
Follow the bin-removal diagram for the exact serial number. Wipe the clear bin with a damp cloth and then dry it fully. Use a dry microfiber cloth or soft brush on accessible cyclone surfaces. Do not rinse or submerge the cyclone or robot body, and do not introduce water into seals, latches, ducts, or the motor airway.
Step 4: Remove and tap the lifetime HEPA filter
Release the filter by its marked catch or twist direction, then tap it gently over the trash container to remove loose dust. Inspect the pleats and seal. Do not scrape the media, use compressed air, or vacuum it with another machine, because those methods can tear or deform the filter.
Step 5: Wash the filter at least monthly
Dyson recommends washing the filter at least once a month, or more often with fine dust and frequent use. Rinse with cold tap water only, gently working water through the pleats until it runs clear. Do not add soap or cleaning chemicals. Shake out excess water without striking the filter against a hard surface.
Step 6: Air-dry the filter for at least 24 hours
Place it in good airflow for a minimum of 24 hours and confirm the deepest pleats and seal are completely dry by touch. Do not use a dryer, oven, microwave, radiator, hair dryer, or direct flame. Returning a damp filter can damage the motor and may create an odor as captured dust becomes wet.
Step 7: Remove and wash the triple-action brush bar
Turn the powered-off robot over, unlock the brush-bar retainer, and lift out the full-width triple-action bar. Cut wrapped hair away from the bristles and rubber sections with blunt scissors, protecting the bar and end caps. Rinse the removable bar with cold water only where Dyson's guide permits, then stand it in airflow for at least 24 hours. Do not wash the brush housing.
Step 8: Clear the side duct and wheels dry
Inspect the extending side duct for fibers and compressed dust without pulling or twisting its mechanism. Use a dry soft brush on the opening. Rotate the caster and drive wheels and remove thread from accessible axles. Never lubricate them or flood their gaps; excess liquid can reach motors and make the tires attract grit.
Step 9: Wipe the camera, sensors, and charging contacts
Use a clean dry microfiber cloth on the 360-degree camera cover, obstacle and cliff sensors, side and floor-tracking areas, and robot and dock contacts. Wipe gently so grit does not scratch optical windows. Never spray glass cleaner onto the robot. Clean the dock surface and cable with the dock unplugged.
Step 10: Reassemble and test on a dry floor
Lock the fully dry brush bar into place, fit the completely dry filter, close the bin, and return the robot upright. Switch on, update the maintenance status in MyDyson if appropriate, and run a short supervised clean. The 360 Vis Nav is a dry vacuum: do not send it across wet flooring. Stop for unusual brush noise, repeated sensor errors, or poor suction and recheck installation.
