How to Clean a HALO BassiNest
HALO BassiNest care begins with the model number. Current 3.0, 3.0S and Luxe support identifies removable side walls that zip off for machine washing, but older Essentia, Premiere, Glide or Flex designs can use different fabric construction and electronics. HALO says the fitted sheet is machine washable, the mattress is wiped with a damp cloth and the base is cleaned with a mild solution on a damp cloth—never harsh or abrasive chemicals. Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Confirm the model and disconnect power
Find the BassiNest model or product name before unzipping fabric. Remove the baby, fitted sheet and mattress pad, then unplug any Soothing or Luxe electronics and remove batteries when the model instructions direct. Keep cords and powered controls dry. Photograph fabric orientation and zipper endpoints if the side wall will be removed.
Step 2: Launder the fitted sheet
Wash the genuine fitted sheet according to its sewn care label, using mild detergent and no bleach when prohibited. Avoid fabric softener that leaves coating on the sleep surface. Dry by the method and temperature on the label, then check that the elastic still fits the mattress securely. Never substitute a loose adult sheet or add another layer.
Step 3: Remove side walls only when the model allows it
HALO says the side walls on 3.0, 3.0 Soothing and Luxe versions zip off and are machine washable. Follow the exact zipper and fastener sequence without dismantling the frame. For an older or different BassiNest, do not assume the mesh is removable; consult its manual and spot-clean if that is the specified method.
Step 4: Wash and air-dry the removable wall
Use the wall's care label—commonly a cold gentle wash with mild detergent, no bleach and hang drying for applicable models. Close or protect fasteners so they cannot snag the mesh. Do not iron or dry-clean unless the exact label permits it. The wall must be dry through seams and padded edges before it is zipped back onto the sleep structure.
Step 5: Wipe rather than soak the mattress pad
HALO directs wiping the mattress with a damp cloth. Remove loose soil, use minimal mild solution if the manual allows it, then wipe away residue with a separate clean damp cloth. Blot and air-dry the pad flat. Do not machine-wash, immerse, steam-clean or add an aftermarket topper; waterlogging or added softness can change the intended sleep surface.
Step 6: Clean the base, frame and nonremovable fabric
Use a mild cleaning solution on a soft damp cloth for the base and frame. Apply it to the cloth rather than spraying the BassiNest. HALO warns against bleach and harsh or abrasive cleaners. Brush or vacuum dry crumbs from joints first, and keep all liquid away from vibration, sound, light or control modules and from height-adjustment mechanisms.
Step 7: Reinstall every dry component securely
Zip an approved removable side wall back in the documented direction, close every endpoint and secure all fasteners. Return the dry mattress pad flat in its original orientation, then install only the tightly fitted approved sheet. Check that no fabric bunches at the lowering wall, swivel point or bedside edge and that mesh remains taut and unobstructed.
Step 8: Inspect and test before sleep
With the BassiNest empty, verify the base is stable, height lock and swivel work normally, side wall returns as designed and powered features are dry and operational. Examine mesh, zippers, mattress and frame for tears, warping or cleaner residue. Stop using a damaged sleep product and contact HALO; cleaning does not make a compromised mattress or structural part safe.
