Step 1: Confirm the model and plan an overnight pause

Read the model label before using a maintenance sequence found for another bath. Choose a stable dry work surface away from a sink, children, and pets. Unplug the PAR-350 and remove the grate as directed, taking care around warm wax. Leave the unit undisturbed while its wax solidifies overnight. Do not rush this stage by tipping a bath containing liquid wax or carrying it across a room. Cleaning should begin with stable solid wax, not a hot pour.

Step 2: Release the solid wax without sharp tools

With the unit unplugged, press on one end of the solidified block so the other end tips upward, then lift it out carefully. Keep the unit level and support it rather than pulling against the cord. Do not use a knife, screwdriver, or metal scraper to release a stuck edge. A gouged tub creates a new problem that ordinary wiping cannot fix. Put the removed block into an appropriate waste container once it is cool enough to handle safely.

Step 3: Treat a stuck block as a separate exception

The PAR-350 manual describes brief reheating for a block that will not release. Do not improvise a longer heating cycle or pry at partly melted wax. If following that exception, keep the bath supervised and unplug it again before handling or wiping the tub; do not reach into an energized appliance. If release remains difficult, ask HoMedics for model-specific assistance rather than damaging the container.

Step 4: Lift residual wax with disposable towels

Wipe accessible residual wax and dirt from the inside using disposable towels. Work around the bottom and sides without pressing hard enough to scratch the surface. Keep discarded material out of sink and toilet drains; remove it into waste instead of sending it through household plumbing. Check whether what remains is a soft residue or actual tub damage. Do not use a heat gun or an external flame to melt the last trace, and do not put the electrical bath in a freezer.

Step 5: Wipe with a damp soapy cloth, never fill the tub

Prepare a soft cloth with mild soap and water, then wring it out well. Wipe the interior and accessible exterior while keeping liquid away from electrical areas. Follow with a restrained clean-water wipe to remove soap film, and dry with a towel. The maintenance instructions exclude pouring water into the bath and immersing it. Cleaning the tub is not the same as using the unit as a basin to wash its own parts. Keep the plug and cord dry throughout.

Step 6: Inspect the grate, lid, and electrical exterior

Wipe residue from accessible loose parts with the same controlled approach and allow them to dry. Do not put electrical components in a dishwasher or open the base. Inspect the cord, plug, tub surface, and lid for visible damage. A damaged cord or cracked tub needs manufacturer assessment before reuse. Keep the grate with the unit so it is not forgotten during later setup. Do not substitute a kitchen rack or another household object for a missing protective component.

Step 7: Store dry or restart with the setup instructions

Store the clean, dry bath in a cool location with its components together. If refilling, follow the PAR-350 setup procedure, paraffin specification, and fill limits instead of assuming the old wax level was correct. Cleaning is complete before heating begins. Treatment instructions, temperature checks, and health precautions remain separate requirements. Do not add water, fragrance mixtures, or candle wax to create a new formulation, and do not regard reheating used wax as a validated sterilization process.
