Step 1: Empty the drum and read the model procedure

Remove all laundry and check the drum and gasket for objects. Find the Tub Clean button sequence, approved cleaner type, pump-panel location, and inlet-screen instructions in the manual. Never mix chlorine bleach with vinegar, ammonia, acids, or another cleaner. Use only one label-approved tub-clean product.

Step 2: Clean the detergent dispenser

Pull the drawer out to its stop, press its release tab, and remove it as the model shows. Separate softener and detergent inserts. Wash removable pieces in warm water with mild soap and a soft brush, clearing siphon passages. Wipe the drawer cavity with a damp cloth without pouring water into the machine.

Step 3: Wipe the door and gasket folds

Pull the flexible gasket back gently and remove lint, hair, coins, and small objects from its channels. Wipe the glass and all gasket folds using the cleaning method permitted by LG. Do not cut, stretch, or pull the gasket away from its retaining band. Dry the lower drainage area where water accumulates.

Step 4: Run the Tub Clean cycle

Add the specified amount of one approved tub cleaner to the location stated in the manual. Close the door, select Tub Clean, and run the complete cycle with no clothing or ordinary detergent. Do not interrupt the cycle or add extra chemical because oversudsing and incompatible mixtures can leave residue or fumes.

Step 5: Prepare to drain the pump system

After the washer is off and cool, unplug it if the manual directs. Put towels and a shallow pan in front of the lower service cover. Open the panel and locate the small manual drain hose and large pump-filter cap. Never unscrew the filter first; retained water can spill rapidly.

Step 6: Drain through the emergency hose

Pull the hose forward, hold it over a container, and remove its cap slowly. Drain all water, emptying the container as needed. Replace the hose cap firmly and return the hose to its holder. If water is hot, wait until it cools before opening the system.

Step 7: Remove and clean the drain-pump filter

Turn the filter counterclockwise and pull it out. Remove lint, hair, buttons, and coins, then wash the filter under running water with a soft brush. Wipe accessible filter-housing residue without reaching into moving parts. Reinsert the filter straight and tighten clockwise so its seal seats correctly.

Step 8: Inspect inlet screens as the manual allows

Turn off water supplies before disconnecting hoses. Check hot and cold inlet screens for sediment and remove them only if the model instructions authorize it. Clean gently without tearing mesh, reconnect hoses to the correct valves, and restore water while watching for leaks. A damaged screen should be replaced, not omitted.

Step 9: Dry and ventilate the washer

Wipe the drum, door glass, gasket, dispenser, and service-panel area dry. Leave the door and dispenser slightly open between uses when appropriate so moisture can escape. LG recommends monthly Tub Clean and pump-filter maintenance; heavy use, pets, or repeated residue may require more frequent inspection.
