How to Clean a Miele Boost CX1 Vacuum and Filters
The bagless Miele Boost CX1 has several dust-control parts with different rules. Its dust container can be wiped with mild dish soap, while the pleated side of the fine-dust filter and the separate filter mat are rinsed under cold water without soap or a brush. Miele says both rinsed pieces must dry for at least 24 hours in a ventilated place, with the pleated filter positioned pleated-side up. The filter mat returns soft-side up with its removal loop visible, and the CX FSF fine-dust filter is generally replaced after about three years. Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Switch off, unplug and cool
Turn off the vacuum, remove the plug by its body and let the machine cool. Retract or secure the cord according to the manual. Never service filters while the motor is running, and keep the vacuum body away from the sink.
Step 2: Remove and empty the dust container
Release the container as shown and carry it upright to a bin. Open the bottom flap over the trash and let debris fall without striking the plastic. Avoid breathing dust and do not use a sharp object to scrape compacted material.
Step 3: Clean the container body
Miele permits a slightly damp cloth and mild dish soap on the dust container. Wipe the interior and flap, then remove residue and dry carefully. Confirm that the bottom flap closes with its proper click before reinstalling.
Step 4: Remove the fine-dust assembly
Access the fine-dust filter at the rear of the container and separate the filter mat in the order shown by Miele. Note the mat's soft side and visible removal loop. Do not twist the pleats, lose a seal or use tools against the filter.
Step 5: Rinse the fine-dust filter correctly
Rinse the pleated side under cold running water. Miele says not to use dish soap or a brush on the pleated filter. Let water carry loose fine dust away rather than scraping between folds or squeezing them.
Step 6: Rinse the filter mat separately
Rinse the mat under cold water on its own, again without soap or a brush. Handle it gently so it retains its shape. The pre-filter and filter frame are cleaned as needed by their model-specific instructions and should not be confused with the mat.
Step 7: Dry both pieces for at least 24 hours
Set the fine-dust filter pleated-side up and place the mat separately in a well-ventilated area for at least 24 hours, as Miele requires. Do not use a dryer, radiator, oven, hair dryer or direct intense sun. Longer may be needed in humid conditions.
Step 8: Clean the pre-filter, frame and air path
While the washed pieces dry, inspect the pre-filter and frame and follow Miele's care route for visible debris. Brush accessible dry material gently. Do not put water into the vacuum body, motor inlet or electrical contacts and do not operate without every required filter.
Step 9: Reassemble in the correct orientation
Install only completely dry parts. Place the filter mat soft-side up with its removal loop visible, then secure the fine-dust assembly and container as shown. A reversed mat or unlatched container can reduce sealing and cleaning performance.
Step 10: Check the floorhead and replacement interval
Cut wrapped hair from a removable brush only where the floorhead guide allows, avoiding bristles and belts. Reconnect and test suction. Clean the fine-dust parts about monthly as Miele indicates and replace the CX FSF filter at roughly three years or sooner if damaged.
