Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Confirm that the eyewear is non-electronic
Check the model. Standard Oakley sunglasses use this optical-care path; Oakley Meta and other connected frames have microphones, cameras and charging contacts that change the moisture rules. Remove the eyewear with clean hands and work over a clear soft surface.
Step 2: Inspect for grit before wiping
Look at both lens surfaces, the top brow and corners near the frame. Sand or hard dust dragged by a cloth can scratch a coating. Use a clean air blower or very gentle airflow to move loose particles; do not wipe visibly gritty lenses dry.
Step 3: Use only the recommended optical cleaner
Oakley recommends its Micro Bag or Lens Cleaning Kit and says not to use untested solvents, chemicals or third-party kits. Apply the measured kit solution as its label directs. Do not substitute window cleaner, hand sanitizer, acetone, ammonia or an all-purpose spray.
Step 4: Wipe with a clean optical cloth
Use the clean kit cloth or Micro Bag with light passes from the lens center toward the edges. Support the frame without flexing the lens. Turn to a clean area of fabric as oils lift so they are not spread back over the surface.
Step 5: Clean the frame contact areas
Use the same clean cloth to wipe the bridge, nose-pad surfaces, temples and earsocks. Avoid flooding joints and do not force cloth between lens and frame. Sunscreen around rubber parts may need repeated gentle passes rather than a stronger chemical.
Step 6: Handle replaceable accessories correctly
Some Oakley models have approved replacement nose-pad or frame-accessory kits. Remove or replace only parts listed for that exact frame and follow its instructions. Oakley warns that attempting to remove other eyewear parts can affect warranty and optical retention.
Step 7: Clean the Micro Bag when contaminated
A bag carrying sand, skin oil or old cleaner should not return to the lenses. Follow Oakley's care direction for the bag or replace it when it cannot provide a clean contact surface. Keep cleaning cloths away from fabric softener, which can leave a film.
Step 8: Inspect and store
