How to Clean an OMRON NE-C801 Nebulizer: Kit, Tube, and Filter

An OMRON NE-C801 has washable nebulizer-kit parts, a separate air tube, a replaceable air filter, and an electrical compressor that must not be immersed. Cleaning all of those pieces the same way can damage the device or leave moisture where it does not belong. This guide follows the current linked US manual, including its daily disinfection options. Check your own model and regional instructions, and follow any additional cleaning directions from your care team. This is equipment maintenance, not advice to change a prescribed treatment.

Primary reference: OMRON NE-C801 official US instruction manual: cleaning, daily disinfection, and air-filter replacement. Always check the manual for your exact model.

What you will need

  • The matching OMRON NE-C801 US manual
  • Hot tap water for the manual's rinsing procedure
  • A clean, soft, lint-free cloth and clean drying space
  • Compatible medical-device disinfectant, or boiling equipment for permitted parts
  • Correct OMRON replacement air filter when required

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Stop treatment and separate the kit from the air tube

Turn the compressor off and disconnect the air tube from the nebulizer kit by holding the connector, not yanking the tube. Remove the mouthpiece or other inhalation accessory. Check the tube for condensation before storing it. The compressor's air-purge procedure is a separate powered operation described below; otherwise unplug the AC adapter from both the outlet and device before hands-on cleaning. Wash your hands and keep the work area clean so washed components are not immediately returned to a contaminated surface.

Step 2: Open the medication cup and rinse the washable parts

Gently turn the inhalation top counterclockwise to separate the kit and discard remaining medication according to the treatment and disposal instructions. The current US manual calls for rinsing the kit and inhalation-accessory parts with hot tap water after each use. Do not include the electrical compressor, air tube, or replaceable filter in that rinse. Keep track of the small baffle and other components as shown in the diagram. This step removes remaining medication before it dries inside the nebulizing assembly.

Step 3: Handle the baffle without brushes or pointed tools

The baffle is essential to the kit's operation and needs cleaning after each use, but OMRON specifically excludes a brush or pin for cleaning these parts. Rinse and handle it gently without changing its openings or geometry. Do not regard a missing baffle as an optional piece because the compressor still makes noise. If a part is damaged, obtain the correct authorized replacement. A blocked or incorrectly assembled kit can impair nebulization, and forceful probing is not an appropriate way to restore performance.

Step 4: Disinfect after the last treatment of the day

The linked US manual gives two daily disinfection paths. One uses a compatible commercially available disinfectant with the product's specified soaking period, followed by clean hot-tap-water rinsing and air-drying. The other boils the permitted kit parts for 15–20 minutes in plenty of water. Do not boil the air tube, air filter, filter cover, or optional masks. Keep the baffle with only the applicable nebulizer accessories, not unrelated household objects. Confirm your exact accessories before choosing a method; do not borrow a different model's shorter boiling time.

Step 5: Clear tube moisture without washing the compressor

If condensation remains in the air tube, leave it connected to the compressor but disconnected from the nebulizer kit. OMRON directs running the compressor to push the moisture out, then turning it off and disconnecting the tube and adapter. Do not intentionally wash the tube or draw cleaning fluid through it. Respect the device's operating limit of 20 minutes followed by a 40-minute interval; this is not a reason to run it indefinitely. With power disconnected, wipe the compressor casing using a soft cloth moistened with water or mild detergent, then dry it immediately.

Step 6: Replace the air filter instead of rinsing it

Inspect the air filter separately. The manual calls for replacement after an average of more than 60 days of use, if its color changes, or immediately if water or medication spills onto it. Do not wash the filter, substitute cotton, or operate without it. The removable filter cover may be washed regularly, but must not be boiled and must be dry before fitting the new correct OMRON filter. Reattach the cover properly so its opening is not obstructed.

Step 7: Dry fully, reassemble correctly, and store clean

Hand-dry or air-dry the washed components in a clean environment with a soft lint-free cloth where appropriate. Do not use a microwave, dish dryer, or hair dryer. Once dry, rebuild the kit with the baffle correctly positioned and store the parts in a dry bag, away from heat, direct sunlight, and unsupervised children. Do not store leftover medication in the cup. If nebulization remains weak after correct cleaning and assembly, use the manual's troubleshooting and contact OMRON or your care team rather than modifying the device.

Specific cleaning questions

Open a question for a concise answer about stains, odors, safety, frequency, and troubleshooting.

Do I clean the NE-C801 after every treatment?
Yes. The current US manual calls for rinsing the washable kit and inhalation-accessory parts after each use and disinfecting after the last treatment of the day. Keep the tube, filter, and electrical compressor on their separate care paths.
Which NE-C801 parts must not be boiled?
Do not boil the air tube, air filter, filter cover, or optional masks. Confirm the permitted kit accessories in your own manual before using its 15–20-minute boiling option. Another region or model may have different instructions.
Can I clean the nebulizer baffle with a needle?
No. OMRON excludes brushes and pins for cleaning the kit parts. Rinse and disinfect by the permitted method without changing small openings. Replace a damaged component with the correct authorized part rather than attempting to reshape it.
How do I remove water from the air tube?
Follow OMRON's compressor-air purge: disconnect the tube from the kit while leaving it on the compressor, run air through it to expel moisture, then switch off and disconnect. Do not store a damp tube or deliberately rinse liquid through it.
Can the air filter be washed and reused?
No. Replace it at the manual's interval, when discolored, or immediately after a water or medication spill. Only the filter cover has a washing path, and that cover must be dry before the new filter is fitted.
Can I use a vinegar soak from another nebulizer guide?
Do not transfer a different device's recipe. The linked current NE-C801 US manual gives compatible commercial disinfectant or boiling options for specified parts. Follow your own manual and care-team instructions rather than mixing protocols from older online guides.
Can the compressor go in the sink?
No. Unplug it, wipe its casing with a soft cloth moistened with water or mild detergent, and dry immediately. Keep liquid out of its openings. The washable medication kit does not make the motor unit immersible.
What if the cleaned device still produces little mist?
Check correct kit assembly, baffle placement, tube condition, and the filter using the manual's troubleshooting. Do not change medication or dosage to compensate. Contact OMRON or your care team if the device does not perform normally.
