Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Confirm the generation and turn the sensor off
Use the Owlet app or base-station sequence specified for the exact model to turn the sensor fully off. Confirm its light is off. Smart Sock 2, Smart Sock 3, Dream Sock, and newer products may not share identical wet-cleaning instructions, so do not assume one generation's method applies to another.
Step 2: Separate the sensor and fabric
Remove the sensor from the fabric sock. Set up a diluted solution of cool-to-lukewarm water and a small amount of the gentle laundry detergent already tolerated in the baby's clothing. Owlet cautions against hand soap, antibacterial soap, and dish soap because residue can be drying or irritating.
Step 3: Hand-wash the fabric sock
Submerge the fabric part only and gently work the solution through soiled areas. Rinse it under clean water until all detergent is removed. Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or harsh stain remover, and do not twist the straps or hook-and-loop fasteners out of shape.
