Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Turn off and remove the battery

Switch the vacuum off, remove it from the charging dock, and take out the removable battery when the model guide directs. Detach the wand and floor nozzle. If the package includes a Clean & Empty base, unplug the base before opening its dust compartment or filter cover. Keep liquid away from the battery, contacts, charging posts, motor body, and base electronics.

Step 2: Empty the handheld dust cup

Hold the dust cup over trash and use the release without reaching through the flap. Empty before debris reaches MAX. Remove the cup only by its approved release and clear hair from the inlet without touching electrical components. Wipe the cup with a dry cloth or use the exact manual's washable-cup method; every seal and surface must be completely dry before it returns to the handheld.

Step 3: Clean pre- and post-motor filters

Remove the foam, felt, and post-motor filter components in their documented order. Shark instructs owners to rinse washable filters with water only—no soap—and allow 24 to 48 hours of complete air-drying. Do not wring felt, scrub filter media, place it in a dryer, or operate the vacuum while a filter is missing or damp.

Step 4: Maintain the Clean & Empty base

On compatible systems, empty or replace the base collection component before it is overfilled. Lift out the dock's exhaust foam filter as the support guide shows, rinse it with water only if it is identified as washable, and let it dry fully before reinstalling. Vacuum or dry-wipe the compartment; do not wash the powered dock or spray cleaner into its intake.

Step 5: Clear the dual brushroll floor nozzle
