How to Clean a Skip Hop Explore & More Activity Center
The Skip Hop Explore & More 3-Stage Activity Center combines a machine-washable polyester seat, a dishwasher-safe snack bowl, battery-powered toys and a large plastic-and-metal frame. Those permissions apply to named removable pieces, not to the entire activity center. Safe cleaning means taking a picture of toy placement, removing the seat and snack bowl, isolating electronic toys, wiping the platform and frame without flooding attachment sockets, and reassembling everything after it is fully dry. This guide focuses on the current Explore & More 3-Stage model. Silver Lining Cloud, older editions and replacement toys can use different components, so verify the product number and each molded care marking.

Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Remove the child and document the setup
Place the empty activity center on a stable dry floor and photograph each toy, clip, platform position and seat orientation. Switch off electronic play features and remove batteries when their individual instructions call for it. Do not dismantle structural fasteners simply to clean. Check the exact model because toy layouts and removable parts can change between editions.
Step 2: Detach and inspect the fabric seat
Release the polyester seat from its circular support using the manual's tabs or clips, without stretching seams. Shake out crumbs and inspect the leg openings, elastic, stitching and attachment edges. Treat a spot with a small amount of mild detergent, but avoid chlorine bleach or a harsh disinfectant that could leave residue against skin.
Step 3: Machine-wash the approved seat
Skip Hop identifies the seat as machine washable. Follow its sewn label for water temperature and cycle, using mild detergent and a light load. Do not assume that padded toys, straps or other fabric-looking accessories share that permission. Air-dry or use only the drying method on the label, making sure elastic channels and attachment seams are dry through their full thickness.
Step 4: Clean the dishwasher-safe snack bowl
Remove the snack bowl and scrape away food. Skip Hop identifies it as dishwasher safe; place it securely where its molded care marking directs and keep small pieces contained. Alternatively wash it with warm soapy water, rinse and air-dry. The dishwasher permission belongs to the bowl—not to toys, platform, suction components or the activity-center frame.
Step 5: Separate battery toys from wipeable toys
Use a soft barely damp cloth on battery-powered modules, keeping liquid away from buttons, speaker holes, battery covers and contacts. Wipe ordinary removable plastic toys with mild soapy solution only as their specific instructions allow. Never submerge an electronic unit or put it in a dishwasher. Dry each toy before returning batteries or reconnecting it.
Step 6: Wipe the platform, tabletop and frame
Brush dry crumbs from toy sockets and the foot platform, then wipe plastic and metal with a mild solution on a cloth. Clean the underside ledges and leg joints without spraying into openings. Do not pressure-rinse, steam-clean or immerse the frame. Follow with a plain damp cloth to remove soap, then dry smooth areas so they are not slippery.
Step 7: Inspect conversion and attachment points
The 3-Stage design converts as a child grows, so examine platform clips, leg locks, toy attachment points, seat ring and table joints while they are exposed. Remove wrapped hair or food without a knife. Replace a cracked toy, loose attachment or corroded battery component through approved support channels rather than gluing or taping a child-contact part.
Step 8: Reassemble and test every station
Fit the dry seat in the original orientation with every tab engaged, reinstall the dry bowl and return toys to their documented positions. Confirm the foot platform is level and locked at the intended stage. With the center empty, press and gently pull each item to verify attachment, then test powered toys. No damp part, loose fastener or cleaner residue should remain.
