How to Clean Speedo Swimming Goggles Safely

Before you begin: Inspect and prepare
Handle the goggles by the frame or strap with clean hands before the rinse and keep fingernails away from the inner lens. Separate ordinary water spots from scratches, coating haze and cracks: mineral residue may improve with the approved rinse, while damaged optics do not become safe or clear through harder scrubbing. A stretched strap, split seal, distorted nose bridge or lens that affects vision is a replacement issue. Never test an uncertain repair for the first time in deep or open water.
Step 1: Handle the frame, not the lenses
Remove the goggles by holding the frame or strap. Keep fingers, fingernails and towel fibers off both lens surfaces, especially the inside. Speedo warns that touching and rubbing can scratch the lens and remove anti-fog treatment.
Step 2: Inspect before rinsing
Look for a split strap, torn seal, cracked lens, loose nose bridge or sand trapped around the frame. Do not rub grit away. If the lens or structural bridge is cracked, replace the goggles; cleaning cannot restore safe vision or fit.
Step 3: Use lukewarm water only
Rinse the goggles gently under a low-flow lukewarm tap or move them through a clean bowl of lukewarm water. Let water carry chlorine, salt and fine particles away. Do not use hot water, which can stress seals or coatings, and do not blast the lens with a high-pressure nozzle.
Step 4: Skip soap and detergent

Step 5: Do not rub the inner lens
If droplets remain, shake the goggles gently. Do not wipe, polish or push a cloth into the eyecup. The inner coating is more vulnerable than an ordinary eyeglass lens. A persistent fogging problem may reflect coating age rather than dirt that needs harder scrubbing.
Step 6: Rinse seals and strap without stretching
Let clean water move over the silicone seals, nose bridge and strap adjusters. Support the frame and do not pull the strap to its limit while wet. If hair or lint is caught in a buckle, free it gently with fingers rather than a sharp tool.
Step 7: Air-dry flat
Lay the goggles flat with the lenses protected from contact and allow them to air-dry. Speedo warns against leaving wet goggles in a kit bag, where moisture can support bacteria and mold. Do not use a hair dryer, radiator, tumble dryer or direct sunlight.
Step 8: Check for trapped moisture
Before storage, inspect the seal grooves, strap adjusters and space around the nose bridge. Let them continue drying if any moisture remains. Do not close damp goggles inside an airtight case, and do not insert paper tissue into the eyecups.
Step 9: Store in the protective pouch
Put completely dry goggles into the pouch or protective case they came with. Keep the case out of sunlight and away from sharp items in the swim bag. UV exposure can shorten lens life, while loose storage invites scratches from zippers, clips and training tools.
