Step 1: Close the feeder and remove the bowl

Let the lid close, switch the unit off if the manual directs and move it away from the pet. Press the release control and lift out the bowl without spilling food into the mechanism. Remove uneaten wet food promptly rather than leaving it until a scheduled deep clean. If the Connect model is paired to a hub, ordinary cleaning does not require deleting its pet or network settings.

Step 2: Remove the mat and lid correctly

Lift out the silicone mat. Use the lid-removal sequence in the model manual instead of bending the arms or forcing the clear cover. Note which edge faces forward. If the lid seal is damaged, discolored or permanently distorted, cleaning will not restore the intended food barrier; replace the approved part rather than improvising a gasket that could obstruct movement.

Step 3: Wash the bowl after each feeding

Wash the colored bowl insert with warm water and mild dish soap, or place that insert in the dishwasher because Sure Petcare identifies the bowls as dishwasher-safe. Separate split-bowl inserts if fitted and clean the corners where wet food dries. Rinse hand-washed bowls thoroughly. Avoid abrasive scrubbers that leave scratches where residue can cling, and do not return a hot bowl directly to the feeder.

Step 4: Hand-wash the mat and lid

Sure Petcare directs owners to hand-wash the mat and lid rather than placing them in a dishwasher. Use mild soapy water and a soft sponge on both sides of the mat, around the lid edge and across the seal. Do not soak a lid assembly longer than needed. Rinse away soap and inspect for trapped food, especially where the closing lid meets the rim of the bowl.

Step 5: Brush crumbs from the feeder body

With removable parts out, use a dry soft brush to loosen crumbs around the bowl recess, hinge area and floor beneath the mat. Tilt the unplugged or battery-powered body only as the manual permits; do not shake debris into the motor. Never insert a tool into the sensor arch or drive gears. Vacuum suction at close range can also pull on small mechanisms, so controlled brushing is safer.

Step 6: Wipe the electronic body without immersing it

Wipe the feeder body, arch and accessible recess with a soft damp cloth. Apply water to the cloth, not directly to the feeder. Sure Petcare states that the body must never be put in water. Keep moisture out of buttons, the battery compartment, motor slots and Connect electronics. For stubborn food, repeat gentle wiping instead of using bleach, solvent, steam or a saturated sponge.

Step 7: Dry all contact points and reassemble

Dry the bowl, mat and lid and let seams air-dry. Wipe the body dry immediately. Refit the lid in the correct orientation and check that it pivots freely without pinching its seal. Seat the mat flat and return the bowl. A damp recess can support odor and make the bowl slide, while a raised mat or misaligned lid can interrupt normal opening and closing.

Step 8: Test recognition and lid travel

Turn the feeder on and trigger it with the registered collar tag or microchip according to the manual. Watch the lid open fully, remain stable while the pet is in range and close without scraping. If it hesitates, recheck the lid, mat, bowl and battery condition; do not lubricate the mechanism. Give the pet access only after cleaned parts are cool, dry and free of cleaner scent.
