Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Photograph the clip layout
Park and switch the vehicle off. Move seats only as needed and photograph each mat's factory hooks and TuxMat side clips. Confirm which piece belongs at each seating position. Do not treat several similar-looking mats as interchangeable, particularly on the driver's side where fit protects pedal travel.
Step 2: Vacuum while the mats are installed
Lift loose dirt, pet hair and salt crystals before unfastening anything. Use a soft brush at stitched or textured areas and a crevice tool along the raised edge without scraping it. Removing dry soil first reduces muddy runoff and keeps debris from spilling onto the carpet.
Step 3: Release and carry each mat out
Detach side clips and factory anchors according to TuxMat and vehicle instructions. Lift the near edge and keep the tray level while taking it outside. Never wash a fitted mat in place; water can bypass the edge, soak carpet padding and reach connectors beneath a seat.
Step 4: Rinse from the cleanest area outward

Step 5: Brush stubborn grime with mild soap

Step 6: Handle oily marks separately
Blot fresh oil before it spreads. Repeat mild soap on the local area with a cloth or soft brush rather than using engine degreaser. Test any stronger manufacturer-approved product on a concealed edge. A permanent color change or swollen layer is damage, not a signal to scrub harder.
Step 7: Rinse until the texture is clean
Flush every channel, seam and clip opening until no bubbles or slick film remains. Soap left within the textured surface attracts dust and can affect traction. Rinse the underside as well, then inspect for trapped gravel that could mark the vehicle carpet.
Step 8: Dry face, edges and backing
Stand the mat so water drains, towel low channels and let it air-dry fully out of extreme heat. Do not reinstall because the center looks dry while seams or the underside remain wet. Avoid glossy tire or dashboard dressings; a clean floor mat should feel stable rather than slick.
Step 9: Reinstall every restraint
