Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Empty, park and identify removable parts
Remove children, snacks, accessories, seats and loose cargo. Engage the parking brake on a stable outdoor or protected surface and consult the exact manual before releasing wheels or harnessed seats. Remove the canopy only if its instructions allow. Photograph seat, harness and accessory positions so safety components return to their original routing.
Step 2: Vacuum dry debris before adding water
Use a handheld vacuum or soft brush on the carriage floor, mesh seams, seat creases, storage pockets and frame joints. Tip loose sand out rather than grinding it into fabric with a wet cloth. Keep vacuum force moderate around mesh and straps. Cut no wrapped fibers near an axle; tease them out carefully after wheel removal if the manual permits it.
Step 3: Spot-clean the polyester fabric and mesh
WonderFold recommends mild soap with warm water for fabric. Test a hidden area, then blot or lightly brush the mark without saturating padding, seams or harness attachment points. Work from the outside inward and follow with a clean damp cloth to remove soap. Do not use bleach, solvent, pressure spray or an unapproved fabric protector.
Step 4: Clean seats and restraints cautiously
Follow each seat's sewn label and model instructions; generic carriage-fabric advice does not automatically permit machine washing. Wipe harness webbing with mild solution when allowed, avoiding soaking the buckle mechanism. Do not twist, iron or chemically disinfect restraint straps. Inspect webbing, stitching and buckle operation, and seek an approved replacement for any cut, frayed or heat-damaged component.
Step 5: Wipe the steel and plastic frame
Use a soft towel with lukewarm water and mild cleaner, as WonderFold advises. Apply solution to the towel rather than flooding hinge, brake or fold areas. Clean handles and lower rails, then wipe with a separate damp cloth and dry remaining water. Avoid abrasive pads that scratch finish and oily household polish that can make grip surfaces slippery.
Step 6: Wash dirt from the wheels
Remove wheels only by the exact release procedure, then use water and a soft brush to clear tread and accessible hubs. WonderFold says to dry the wheels after washing. Do not pressure-wash bearings or apply an automotive degreaser. Remove hair and grit carefully, inspect tire and axle condition and use lubricant only if the model instructions identify a safe product and point.
Step 7: Air-dry every section before folding
Open the wagon fully in shade with airflow, positioning pockets, footwell and mesh so water drains. Dry frame tubes, wheel sockets and brake areas with a towel. Do not fold, cover or store the wagon while fabric or joint cavities are damp, because compression traps odor and moisture. Avoid a clothes dryer, hair dryer and prolonged direct sun.
Step 8: Reassemble and run an empty safety check
Install dry wheels until each locks, restore seats and route harnesses flat through their correct guides. Reattach the canopy and accessories without obstructing folding or brakes. With the wagon empty, test wheel retention, steering, parking brake, fold locks and each buckle. Stop using it if a wheel does not latch, the brake slips or cleaning reveals structural damage.
