How to Wash a BabyBjörn Baby Carrier

Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Identify the carrier and fabric
Find the product name and sewn care label before washing. A Harmony in 3D mesh or woven fabric, a Mini in cotton and a different-generation One should not be assumed identical. BabyBjörn's current Harmony page states warm 40°C machine washing, but use a lower temperature or different cycle whenever the actual label requires it.
Step 2: Decide whether a full wash is necessary
Brush away crumbs and lint and blot a small drool or food mark with a damp cloth first. BabyBjörn notes that lower temperatures and less frequent washing reduce environmental impact and fabric wear. Use a full cycle for broader sweat, spit-up or soil, not every minor mark.
Step 3: Empty and secure the carrier
Remove bibs, teething pads and other accessories so each follows its own label. Fasten buckles without cinching straps into tight folds, close hook-and-loop areas and loosen adjusters enough that detergent can rinse away. Check that no removable stiffener or accessory remains where the manual says to take it out.
Step 4: Place it in a washing bag
BabyBjörn recommends washing the carrier separately, preferably in a laundry bag. The bag limits buckle impact and prevents straps from tangling around the machine agitator or other garments. Do not cram the carrier into a small bag that sharply bends padded panels; use a roomy mesh bag or closed pillowcase.
Step 5: Wash with mild bleach-free detergent
Select the temperature and gentle program shown on the care label; current Harmony instructions specify 40°C. Add a modest dose of mild bleach-free detergent. Do not use fabric softener, chlorine bleach or optical-heavy stain treatments. Softener can coat fibers and mesh, while harsh chemistry can alter color and material.
Step 6: Rinse without wringing
Run an extra rinse if detergent remains in thick seams. Lift the carrier with both hands and gently press water into towels; do not twist the waist panel, pull wet shoulder straps or wring structured padding. Check folds around buckles where suds can hide.
Step 7: Air-dry in its natural shape
BabyBjörn says not to tumble-dry the carrier. Arrange it across a sturdy rack with straps open and padding supported, away from a radiator or concentrated sun. Turn it during drying and open buckle covers and folds so mesh, seams and foam dry through, not just at the surface.
Step 8: Inspect fit and hardware before use
When completely dry, close and release each buckle, slide every adjuster and inspect stitching, mesh and padded edges. Restore the head support and leg-position settings for the child's size using the manual. Do not carry a baby if a buckle is cracked, webbing is frayed or padding has remained distorted.
