How to Clean a Dyson V8 Cordless Vacuum

Step 1: Turn the V8 off and disconnect it

Step 2: Empty the bin before it passes MAX

Step 3: Wipe the clear bin and cyclone correctly
If the exact V8 instructions allow the clear bin to be removed, wipe it with a damp cloth and dry it fully before refitting. Dyson directs owners to clean the cyclone with a microfiber cloth rather than washing it. Do not submerge the cyclone, motor body, or electrical assembly, and do not put vacuum parts in a dishwasher. A dry soft brush can lift loose dust from the shroud without forcing debris inward.
Step 4: Remove only the washable filters

A filter can feel dry outside while retaining moisture in its pleats or core, so inspect from both ends before installation. Running with a damp filter can damage the motor.
Step 7: Clear the wand, inlets, and tools
Look through the detached wand and check the bin inlet, main-body opening, elbows, and accessory necks. Remove accessible debris by hand or with a blunt tool that cannot puncture a hose. Do not push a blockage deeper, use liquid in an airway, or dismantle a sealed electrical connection. Repeated pulsing after visible paths are clear can indicate another restriction.
Step 8: Clean the correct brush bar
For a Motorbar or direct-drive head, unlock the end cap as instructed, remove the brush bar if approved, and cut away hair without nicking bristles or the bar. Wipe the housing dry. Some V8 Fluffy soft-roller bars are washable in water after complete removal, while powered housings are not. Follow the cleaner-head instructions and dry a washable roller completely before reinstalling it.
Step 9: Reassemble and test
Refit only fully dry filters and washable rollers, lock every end cap, close the bin flap, and reconnect the wand and head. Test on normal power first. Stop if the machine pulses, smells hot, displays reduced runtime, or a brush bar fails to turn. Recheck seating and blockages before assuming the battery or motor is at fault.
