Step 1: Separate the hub before any rinse

Wash your hands, switch the pump off and detach the powered hub from the collection cup before bringing parts to water. Disassemble the cup into the components shown in the Lansinoh instructions, keeping small silicone pieces visible. Do not wash, rinse or immerse the hub. Inspect milk-contact parts for tears, warping or residue and note how the valve and inserts face. Cleaning cannot restore a torn valve or make an incorrectly sized or damaged component seal normally.

Step 2: Rinse milk-contact parts promptly

Lansinoh directs users to rinse the disassembled cup parts with cold water immediately after use. Keep the hub aside in a dry location. Let water pass over the reachable surfaces rather than leaving assembled layers together. Prompt rinsing reduces dried film, but it is not the complete wash. Do not put the components directly in a household sink where drains and food residue can contaminate feeding equipment. Use a clean basin reserved for this purpose.

Step 3: Wash in a dedicated basin

Add warm water and dish soap to the dedicated basin, then wash every milk-contact surface with clean hands. Separate seals, channels and mating surfaces so hidden film is not trapped. Lansinoh allows a nipple brush on hard plastic components but says not to use it on the soft silicone valve or flange inserts. Work those flexible parts gently with fingers in the soapy water. Do not stretch a slit valve, use abrasive pads or assume stronger fragrance means cleaner milk-contact equipment.

Step 4: Rinse with clean warm water

Rinse components under clean running warm water or in fresh water held in a second dedicated basin. Rotate each hard part and let water reach channels and edges. Inspect the valve opening without inserting a sharp tool. Soap left on a sealing surface can affect both hygiene and pump performance. If residue remains, repeat the normal wash with fresh solution rather than wiping with a shared kitchen towel or adding an unlisted disinfectant.

Step 5: Air-dry without rubbing

Place parts on a clean unused dish towel, fresh paper towel or protected drying rack and let them air-dry completely. Lansinoh says not to rub or pat them dry with a dish towel. Keep the parts separated so water does not remain between nested cup pieces. Do not assemble while partially damp; the manufacturer notes that incomplete drying can affect operation. Protect the drying area from splashes, dust, pets and hands handling unrelated kitchen work.

Step 6: Wipe the powered hub only

Clean the hub with a damp cloth using water or mild soap as Lansinoh permits. Keep moisture from seams, charging connections and openings, and never run it under a faucet. Remove surface residue with another controlled wipe and let the exterior dry. If milk entered the powered assembly or the hub was submerged, stop using it and follow Lansinoh support instructions. Opening the housing or trying to flush it internally is not a cup-cleaning procedure.

Step 7: Inspect and reassemble dry components

With clean hands, reinstall the valve, insert, flange and collection components in the documented direction, then attach the dry hub. Check that every seal lies flat and that no part is omitted or doubled. Store the assembled clean cup protected from contamination or keep parts in a clean covered area as the instructions allow. At the next session, investigate leaks or weak suction through assembly, fit and replacement guidance—not by applying oil or enlarging a valve opening.
