How to Clean a Miele Triflex HX2 Cordless Vacuum
The Miele Triflex HX2 uses a bagless dust container, a pre-filter, a fine-dust filter with ComfortClean, and model-specific floorheads. Those parts do not all use the same cleaning method. Fine dust, packed hair, and a container filled to MAX can reduce airflow, but rinsing a filter that Miele intends to be cleaned dry can cause a more serious problem. Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Switch off and disconnect the vacuum
Turn the Triflex HX2 off, remove it from the charger, and make sure the motor has stopped. Detach the PowerUnit from the wand or floorhead if that gives safer access. Do not press the power control while the dust container, filter, or brush roller is removed. Keep water, spray cleaner, and damp cloths away from the battery contacts, motor openings, charger, and powered connectors.
Step 2: Empty the dust container at MAX
Hold the container low inside a trash bin to reduce airborne dust. Use the release and twisting sequence shown for the HX2, then open the bottom flap and let debris fall out without pushing it through the shroud. Miele advises emptying no later than the MAX line. Close the flap until it locks and inspect the seal for trapped fibers before reinstalling the container.
Step 3: Use ComfortClean before dismantling the filters
The fine-dust filter has a ComfortClean cleaning function. With the dust container in the prescribed position, rotate the ComfortClean dial through the turns specified by Miele; its cleaning action releases dust from the filter surface. Miele's troubleshooting guidance calls for ten 180-degree turns when reduced cleaning performance requires a thorough cycle. Perform the movement deliberately rather than forcing the dial past its normal stops.
Step 4: Remove the pre-filter and fine-dust filter
Release the dust container components in the order shown in the manual. Lift out the pre-filter, then remove the fine-dust filter by its intended grip points. Work over trash because loosened powder can fall from the pleats. Do not pry with a screwdriver or pull on pleated media. Note each part's alignment marks so it can be locked back into the container without crushing a seal.
Step 5: Clean the filters dry
Tap loose dust gently from the pre-filter and fine-dust filter as Miele directs. Use the built-in ComfortClean action for the fine-dust filter rather than washing it. Do not rinse these filters, apply detergent, scrub the pleats, blow them out with compressed air, or place them in a dishwasher. Replace a torn, deformed, or permanently blocked filter; Miele lists a service life of roughly three years for the fine-dust filter under normal use.
Step 6: Wipe the container and exterior
Remove loose dust from the empty container with a dry cloth or soft brush. Wipe the PowerUnit and other exterior plastic with a clean dry or only slightly damp cloth, then dry immediately. Never immerse the PowerUnit or allow liquid to run into seams. Avoid abrasive pads, glass cleaner, solvents, oils, and aerosol products that can cloud the container or damage seals.
Step 7: Remove hair from the floorhead
Turn the detached Multi Floor XXL electrobrush or model-specific head over. Use the release described in its instructions to remove the roller only if that head is designed for user removal. Cut along the roller's cutting groove where provided, lift away threads, and clean the end bearings without losing spacers or caps. Do not rinse the electrical floorhead or reinstall a roller that does not turn freely.
Step 8: Check the air path and connections
Look through the wand and inspect the inlet at the dust container, PowerUnit, floorhead neck, and accessory tools. Remove accessible obstructions without driving them farther into a narrow passage. Make sure conductive contacts are clean and dry. If an obstruction cannot be reached without opening the motor unit or powered wiring, stop and use Miele service rather than dismantling sealed components.
Step 9: Reassemble and test at low power
Seat the fine-dust filter, pre-filter, and dust container using their alignment marks, and twist each part until it locks. Refit the brush roller and close its release fully. Reconnect the configuration you use and run a brief test on the lowest suitable setting. Stop if airflow remains weak, the head stops repeatedly, or the vacuum sounds strained; a filter may be misseated or another blockage may remain.
