How to Clean a Panasonic Arc5 Shaver
Panasonic Arc5 shavers use a five-foil outer assembly, removable inner blades and, on selected models such as the ES-LV97, an automatic cleaning-and-charging station. Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Separate manual and station-equipped models
Check whether the Arc5 has only a charging adapter or includes an automatic cleaning charger. Record the model, such as ES-LV67 or ES-LV97, because button sequences and station reservoirs differ. Disconnect the adapter and make sure the appliance socket is closed or protected before water cleaning.
Step 2: Remove heavy stubble first
Turn the shaver off and remove the outer-foil section. Tap loose hair gently from the rigid frame, not against the foil. Use the short-bristle side of the supplied brush where the manual indicates. Do not brush across the system outer foil because bending one of its five shaving surfaces can cause skin contact with a cutter.
Step 3: Start the sonic-vibration cleaning mode
Reattach the foil, wet it, apply a small amount of liquid hand soap and add water. Hold the power switch for the model-specified interval to start sonic cleaning rather than an ordinary shaving run. The higher-frequency motion loosens residue while reducing splashing. Keep fingers away from the foil during operation.
Step 4: Rinse the head and inner blades
After the cleaning cycle, rinse the outer foil under running water. Turn the shaver off, remove the foil section and rinse the exposed inner blades and head area. Use water flow rather than scraping between blades. Shake off droplets without striking the sink.
Step 5: Clean the automatic station correctly
For an ES-LV97-style charger, remove the liquid container as directed, discard old solution, rinse the container and fill to its water line before adding the specified Panasonic detergent. Clean the station tray and filter according to the manual. Never substitute hand soap or pour mixed cleaner directly into the station.
Step 6: Keep charger contacts clean and dry
Unplug the station before wiping it. Use a dry or barely damp cloth on the cradle and contacts, and remove stray hairs from the tray without flooding the electrical base. Wipe water from the shaver socket before seating the handle. If the station produces persistent foam or overflow, replace incorrectly mixed solution and rinse the reservoir.
Step 7: Air-dry before oiling
Place the foil section and handle in a ventilated area away from direct heat. When they are fully dry, attach the foil, place one drop of Panasonic oil on each outer-foil section as the manual shows, switch the shaver on briefly and wipe away excess. Oil after water washing helps reduce friction and blade heat.
Step 8: Reassemble and inspect
Seat both sides of the outer-foil frame until they click. Confirm that the foil is smooth, inner blades are secure and no cleaning icon or station error remains. Replace a cracked foil, bent frame, chipped blade or leaking station reservoir rather than testing it against skin.
