How to Clean a PETLIBRO Granary Smart Feeder and Rotor

Step 1: Disconnect every power source and empty food

Unplug the adapter and remove backup batteries if the exact model uses them. Confirm the screen and motor are inactive. Remove the lid, take out the desiccant bag and set it aside; it is not a washable food component. Pour usable dry food into a clean sealed container and discard stale, damp or contaminated kibble. Do not begin disassembly with food pressing on the rotor. Keep the cord and adapter away from the wash area.

Step 2: Remove the tank in the documented order

For the AF103/PLAF103 Granary Smart Feeder, pull the notches on both sides of the food tank slightly outward and upward to release it. Hold the base while removing the tank rather than lifting the entire powered appliance by a plastic hopper. Photograph alignment marks. Do not force tabs, twist a tank that uses the notch release or apply another Granary generation’s steps. Food lodged at a latch should be brushed away before more force is used.

Step 3: Detach the tank base and serving pieces

Hold the feeder base, turn the tank base counterclockwise and lift it as PETLIBRO instructs. Remove the stainless-steel bowl and bowl tray. Continue only with rotor or internal food-path pieces that the exact manual identifies as removable. Keep screws, motor couplings and powered sections in place. Separate food-contact items so every surface can be reached, but do not dismantle a drive assembly simply because crumbs are visible beyond an owner-accessible opening.

Step 4: Wash compatible food-contact parts

Use warm water, mild dish soap and soft tools on the tank, lid where permitted, tank base, removable rotor pieces, bowl and tray. Reach corners and the chute without scratching clear plastic or silicone. Keep the desiccant bag, base, cable and electronic controls out of the sink. Do not put parts in a dishwasher unless the exact model manual explicitly allows it; PETLIBRO feeder generations differ. Rinse thoroughly so soap does not remain where dry food will sit.

Step 5: Dry-brush and wipe the powered base

Turn the disconnected base so accessible loose crumbs can be brushed outward without falling deeper into the motor path. Wipe external surfaces with a well-wrung cloth. Clean the food detector or optical area only with the method PETLIBRO specifies, avoiding scratches and liquid. Never rinse or immerse the base. If grease, insects or liquid have entered inaccessible electronics, ordinary owner cleaning is finished and support is safer than opening the housing.

Step 6: Dry every tank and rotor surface completely

Air-dry washed pieces with openings exposed and finish with a clean dry cloth where appropriate. Inspect under lips, inside the chute, around rotor vanes and at the tank-base connection. PETLIBRO warns that moisture entering the base can damage internal circuits, and damp food paths can spoil kibble. Do not refill while one concealed groove is wet. Replace the desiccant according to its schedule rather than washing or baking the used packet.

Step 7: Reassemble, test empty and refill

Install the rotor and tank base in their documented orientation, turning the base until it locks. Refit the tank with its notches seated, then the clean dry bowl and tray. Restore batteries and adapter only after the assembly is dry. Run a small manual portion into the bowl and confirm normal sound and delivery before filling the hopper. Check low-food sensing and the schedule without placing fingers in the chute. Persistent over-dispensing or stalls require model-specific troubleshooting.
