Step 1: Identify cordless or countertop construction

Read the model number and determine whether the reservoir twists from a cordless handle or lifts from a countertop base. Power the unit off. For a cordless model, unplug the charging cord and adapter and close the charging-port cover before cleaning. For a countertop model, disconnect power before wiping the base or moving the reservoir. Do not borrow an AirFloss method or pull a tank in the wrong direction. Photograph nozzle and hose placement if the system will be moved.

Step 2: Empty and rinse the reservoir

Discard remaining water rather than storing it in the machine. Remove the reservoir using its documented motion: Philips describes a gentle clockwise twist for the cordless tank and a straight upward lift for the countertop version. Rinse away loose film with warm water. Inspect the tank, lid, seals and connection area for mineral deposits or damage. Do not pour water over the exposed base or handle and do not use the reservoir as a soaking tub while it remains attached.

Step 3: Wash the removable reservoir

Hand wash the detached reservoir with warm water and mild soap, reaching corners without abrasive tools. Philips also permits dishwasher cleaning for the reservoir; place only the removable compatible tank in the machine and follow its model guidance. Do not put the powered cordless handle, countertop base, hose assembly or charger in a dishwasher. Rinse hand-washed parts until no soap remains and let drainage openings face down before reassembly.

Step 4: Rinse and descale the nozzle

Remove the nozzle and rinse its tip under warm water regularly. Every few months or when the specified nozzle is clogged, Philips describes soaking it for five minutes in two parts water to one part white vinegar, followed by a warm-water rinse. Another troubleshooting page may give a longer time for a persistent blockage; start with the cleaning instruction tied to the exact product. Do not enlarge jet openings with pins or use undiluted acid.

Step 5: Clean the water path when buildup warrants it

For the Philips internal-cleaning route, fill the reservoir with warm water and one to two tablespoons of white vinegar. Point the nozzle into the sink and run the solution through until the tank is empty. Keep the appliance upright and the electrical base dry. This periodic rinse is for the documented water path, not permission to soak the handle or hose externally. Do not mix vinegar with bleach, peroxide, mouthwash or another cleaner.

Step 6: Flush with a full tank of clean water

Refill the reservoir with clean warm water and run the full amount through the system to clear vinegar. Rinse the nozzle again and inspect the stream. Repeat a plain-water flush if odor remains, but do not add fragrance or essential oils; Philips provides separate restrictions for reservoir additives. Wipe the handle and base with a soft cloth and mild soap, keeping moisture away from the cord, port, controls and seams.

Step 7: Dry, reassemble and store empty

Let the reservoir, lid and nozzle drain and air-dry before reattaching. Wipe the powered surfaces dry and open a cordless charging-port cover only after the surrounding area is dry. Reinstall the tank without forcing its latch or twist connection. Store the unit empty between extended periods of use. If flow remains irregular after the documented nozzle and internal cleaning, follow Philips troubleshooting; pump failure is not corrected by stronger vinegar or dismantling the base.
