How to Clean a PS5 Console and Its Vents Safely

Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Shut down completely
Choose Turn Off PS5 rather than Rest Mode and wait until the power indicator is off. Disconnect the AC power cord from the electrical outlet and console, then remove HDMI, USB, Ethernet, and accessory cables. Let the console cool before moving it. Never clean while it is powered, warm, or connected to mains electricity.

Step 3: Dry-wipe the exterior

Step 4: Vacuum the outer vents
Hold a low-suction vacuum just above the air openings and move along them without forcing a nozzle through the grille. Keep metal and hard plastic edges from scraping the case. Do not use a high-powered shop vacuum, and do not spin a fan with concentrated compressed air. The goal is to lift accessible lint, not drive debris deeper.
Step 5: Remove covers only by the exact guide
If the model's PlayStation instructions authorize owner removal, place the console in the specified orientation, remove its stand or feet, and release each cover using the shown grip and sliding direction. Do not pry with a screwdriver or bend a panel until it pops. Stop if resistance does not match the guide; a wrong technique can crack tabs.
Step 6: Vacuum trapped dust beneath the covers
Use the handheld vacuum gently on visible dust and designated dust-catching openings described by Sony.
